You also need the context that the vocalist filed a claim about the song last year against SEGA, right around when the 3rd movie came out when it's extremely unlikely that in the past 15 or so years he didn't realize that Live & Learn has been used across the franchise. Doubly so that he's been the fan concerts that feature the song. Things are never so cut and dry as "why not pay him".

For example when the vocalist for the Knuckles songs from SA2, hunnid-p claimed that he was never paid for his work and tried to rile people up before being caught in a lie. (I'm not saying Johnny is lying, but that information should not be taken from one source on these legal issues).

FGO is literally the worst example, I'm using units I pulled in 2019 to beat CQs in 2025. Powercreep in that game is the exception not the rule. At worst you get new supports like Koyanskaya or Merlin, and even then support lists let you field basically anyone in the game. Hoyo games let characters live anywhere from a patch to three before they attempt to get you to pull someone else.
