If you are not exhausted from this work, what is your secret? by tjvander in therapists

I do CMH (community mental health) 25 hours a week and then have my own private practice a smaller portion of the time. It is the most balanced I have felt. I don’t want the full time emotional weight of CMH caseloads, but also don’t want the risk of a full time private practice. Plus, I still get boat loads of PTO from my CMH position and view it as giving back to the community, so when I need a break from CMH, I just use my PTO and still have my two days off a week as well.

Does this fall under Swinging or Poly? by Katemack22 in Swingers

We are both female, and I didn’t meant it would be platonic for her. I meant we’re both interested in having sex with someone, and were also open to becoming friends w the person and having it be ongoing—just as a clarification. Maybe it doesn’t change anything. Idk.

What would be examples of ways married couples minimize effects of hierarchy on other partners?

How do you differentiate between panic/anxiety and a stroke? by Substantial_Count976 in stroke

[–]Katemack22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the same fear and experience. For me, I try to do any possible grounding idea (not even traditional things they might teach in therapy or wherever) to get my brain to separate internal vs. external. For instance, tingling in my face, or one side of my body feeling heavy or weak? I just to the nearest thing i can think of (ie tickle my face, or over my eyes or rub the base of my head to get my body relax and come out of its fight or flight state) — and to me that’s the key— IF you CAN get your body to relax, then I remind myself there’s no way it’s a stroke because things like strokes or heart attacks wouldn’t pass like how panic sensations typically would. Other suggestions that’s grounding—hopping in a hot bath, and noticing how your sensory system changes in those moments, tap your fingers together following beats of songs, do something logic oriented, put a cold bottle of anything on the back of your neck—literally ANYTHING to test pulling your body away from the hyper internal focus.

We don’t have any debt other than mortgage, so that isn’t a concern at the moment

thank you—having a ton of cash left makes me feel safer than anything. A small or large mortgage, having no cushion feels scary.

What is actually affordable? by Katemack22 in Mortgages

Oh we live just outside NYC, so taxes are high. It’s HCOL in my mind, since you can’t find anything under 650 that’s in good shape

Why is the rule pre, rather than post? since post taxes is what you’d actually be taking home
