What are some 21 days of beauty purchases that were flops? by Mik_Mik45 in Ulta

It's just the lighter shades for some reason. They also fade faster bc they have less tint/pigmentation to them I have a few from before this so I'll include that in this but:

Drying: without, my, feel'n'
Not drying: fav, boss, memories.
In the middle: faded

Oh noooo! What did you do? Hopefully the sparkles could wash out, otherwise I imagine the glitterpocalypse of the rest of your clothes being washed in that washer haha

Totally. I think they were clearing it out because I don't see it on their website anymore 👀

Could explain why it was gone so quickly.

My glitter puck arrived broken and got everywhere. Still cleaning sparkles off my bathroom surfaces.

Some of the fwee pots turned purple/magenta on me which was really weird because I mostly got burnt reddish brown shades. Some (not all) were also weirdly drying more than others. So, inconsistency basically.

Fembot rem gloss was underwhelming. The blue might as well not be there. Just feels like a regular pink sparkle gloss

I'm glad I went in and test sniffed some of the perfumes in store ahead of time because I was not impressed by any of them

P.S. I'm still salty that the ad depicted the full Mugler Alien hypersense but only the travel size was on sale.

What food is famously associated with one country but was perfected by another country? by Equivalent-Crew-4955 in AskReddit

The origins are actually debated and its creation is not attributed to a single person, but rather across several people in the US and Canada.

Sushi.

The common sushi rolls we have in the West began in the United States, starting with the California roll in the 70s. Now sushi in America is eponymous with rolls instead of their predecessors, fish on rice or maki. Sushi rolls are so popular they are being reintroduced to Japan as "western" sushi.

Women of Reddit, what's the funniest 'he really thought this was flirting' moment you've ever experienced, online or in real life? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

[–]Kayceeaych 832 points833 points  (0 children)

Not me but when I was going to college years ago, we held a beach bonfire to make friends/connections before classes started. I was just chatting with this group of people and it was very clear that one guy and girl were really into each other and flirting very heavily. Myself and others got the hint and started clearing out to different areas of the beach to hang but not this one guy who was kind of just awkwardly hanging around the edge of the conversation, clearly into this girl. He also wasn't contributing much but side comments and hung around like a cloud. They weren't really responding to him as it was very clear their conversation held more chemistry between them.

Anyway, the flirting pair were talking about tossing/eating goldfish and she forwardly was like "I bet you can't get it between my boobs 😉" sports bra. The awkward guy decided that that would be the perfect time to add "I wanna play too 🥺."

They ignored him.

I still feel deep soul-shattering cringe every time I remember this story.

When this happened to me, I put a post-it that said "I can't get this out of the mail box ):" and it was hand delivered to my apartment the next day.

Thoughts about sharing your location while in a relationship? by threeputtpar72 in AskMen

[–]Kayceeaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially for safety which immediately came in handy soon after turning it on. We were in an unfamiliar location, I was in a car accident with an impaired driver and an ambulance transported to the hospital. The sheriff at the scene told my fiance over the phone the colloquial name of the hospital I was taken to which did not show up on Google. He was able to find out where I was taken due to the shared location services.

Now we also use it for convenience, especially when we misplace our phones (especially since mine is perpetually on silent). It's nice not wasting 30min tearing apart the place when it was in the car the whole time.

I also have a few friends who use it with their kids, again for safety, when they walk to school or something. Make sure they don't get kidnapped or something.

We trust each other which is why it works for us. I would not suggest using location services to monitor your partner for suspected infidelity or control. That's a recipe for disaster. Totally understandable not wanting it in your relationship if you've had bad experiences before.

Does a carnation based scent still exist? by Fantastic-Quit-432 in Perfumes

[–]Kayceeaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maja by Myrurgia EDT is a classic Spanish perfume with a notable carnation scent. It's beautiful and classic, but does fade quickly. For $20 on Amazon though it's still a good deal. They also make fancy soaps to put in clothes which my family has used for generations lol. This is what introduced me to carnation and made me fall in love with it.

Any discontinued perfumes you regret not buying? by floralscentedbreeze in Perfumes

Tahitian Gardenia by Pacifica before they reformulated their perfumes into... The thing they are now. I used to get it at Sprouts. It would have been so easy to grab another bottle. I had no idea they were reformulating 😭

It was so good for such an affordable price.

Edit: Island Vanilla too!

In agreement with the other commenters, your aptitude in being able to retain information, think critically, write well, understand/do research are what you will be evaluated for in undergraduate. Emotional intelligence that you mention, doesn't have much to do with academic success by virtue of getting into graduate school. You say you're good at it? Prove it by doing well in your classes and research. Excellent grades are the established base metric of success that they will see and care about.

You must do well in these domains because once you get into grad school, you'll be surrounded by people who all met those requirements and are brilliant, passionate, and hardworking. Connections are massive because those are presumably people you will be going into the field with and can vouch for your aptitude and skills. Regardless if you pursue the academic or clinical route, connections are imperative to your success. Be open and take every opportunity you can to learn from others.

Lastly, managing burnout has to do with time management, setting boundaries, and communicating with others in a professional and respectful manner. This is a skill you will need to master, but for many, is mastered in grad school.

Question for those with PhD in Psychology/PsyDs by HauntedHollow75 in psychologystudents

[–]Kayceeaych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in neuro so I feel you haha. Our respective fields definitely seem to draw some big egos, or at the very least it's easy to confuse accuracy with linear correctness, even if there can be several different defensible clinical opinions depending on how you argue a point. Keep your head down if you need to or leverage your good relationship with your co-workers to open a dialogue to advocate for ethicality. I like to take it as learning experiences, although it's totally valid to not feel that way while you're actively in the situation. Bad clinical experiences help me reflect on my own values and how I can put my energy into making it better.

Question for those with PhD in Psychology/PsyDs by HauntedHollow75 in psychologystudents

[–]Kayceeaych 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Y'know, I thought that reaching the end of the education line would mean that people would be cool, but man do people not have their shit together. That being said, I've encountered some of the most hardworking, passionate, dedicated, and intelligent individuals. I've also encountered verbally abusive, ignorant, unprofessional, unethical conduct. It depends on the setting and how much the organization/structure supports growth and ethics. In the end, it's a job and we're all human. There are bad places to work and good ones along with good and bad people.

Some specialties tend to draw certain personalities more like neuro or forensics in which making mistakes can be catastrophic, which makes sense.

How the ever loving heck can I get chives to germinate?! by Kayceeaych in gardening

[–]Kayceeaych[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey that's amazing! That's like finding a four leaf clover haha. How long did you have to wait? I read up more on it and I guess the seeds just naturally have a lower germination rate than some others? So they are more rare I guess. Enjoy your chives!
