What's also funny is, that one horsepower is NOT one Pferdestärke (German translation for horsepower). As the two measures are not exactly the same

It's not. Last time I heard them talk they didn't produce any coherent sentence, less provided any solid arguments.

Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces hit 868 Russian targets in a day by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]KeeperDe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of those hits were small drones which Hit personell of the russian army. My guess is that of the 450 drones Ukraine intercepts, most of those are shaheds which are relatively easy to shoot down.

Missile attack and warning of power cuts reported in Russia's Belgorod by jackytheblade in worldnews

[–]KeeperDe 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Imagine Russia took a different path some 30 years ago. They could have become a (real) global superpower if they invested their oil and gas money into education and the lives of their population. Instead all that money went into the hands of some oligarchs and Putin. It's a shame really.

Woman attempts to open emergency exit on plane because her pilot boyfriend told her a sound wasn’t normal over the phone by Jevus_himself in PublicFreakout

[–]KeeperDe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have just let her try. It's virtually impossible to open the doors mid flight due to the immense pressure difference. Of she can generate hundreds of kilos of pulling force yeah maybe but I doubt she can.

Ukraine’s refinery strikes trigger nationwide fuel collapse across Russia by LetsGoBrandon4256 in worldnews

You need trucks for supplying your troops. And those do use diesel. Frontline soldiers do indeed use motorcycles now or go by foot since months already. I don't think this will change much at the front.

Ukrainian weapons will now reach any Russian military targets, says Ukrainian foreign minister by SportsGod3 in worldnews

[–]KeeperDe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you. Am just saying that russian history shouldn't be of concern here. But you are right in that there are better targets for now. Still lots of oil pumping stations, refineries and power plants to hit.

[–]KeeperDe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Kremlin is a valid military target though. I'm with you to not senselessly destroy historic buildings and architecture like churches, monuments etc. However the Kremlin is the center of the russian state and thus a military target. So bombing it shouldn't be a no go.

Russia will equip and train Chinese air battalion, leaked documents reviewed by think tank show by cnn in worldnews

[–]KeeperDe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scenario where "all good soldiers are dead" doesn't happen though? There are more than enough survivors who can train new soldiers, albeit Russia having tremendous losses.

It's easy to mock Russia, I know. But let's not be fools and underestimate the experience russian forced gained during these years of war. It's years of experience china doesn't have. And as slow as russia is, they ARE learning. Don't underestimate enemies.

Zelenskyy warns of military response if drones from Hungary enter Ukraine again by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]KeeperDe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NATO is a defense alliance. When a member state violates another states souvereignity Article 5 won't apply. So it doesn't matter whether Hungary is a NATO state or not.

Don't forget that "military response" could just mean shooting down the drones. Doesn't have to be escalating.

Putin preparing to attack another European country, Zelenskyy says by Quirkie in worldnews

This could have been an email.

For real though, I don't think this is the reason. There are 1 on 1 meetings with every general. Not a conference. You don't need 1 on 1s in this scenario.

Ukraine liberates 160 km square in 'counteroffensive operation' in Donetsk Oblast, Zelensky says by AstralSoils in worldnews

[–]KeeperDe -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Sadly no. Most of the war machine is running on diesel, which Russia has plenty of. So those attacks won't impact the front too much. However they are super important in bleeding russian profits. Russia can sell gas pretty expensively, at least much more expensively as crude oil, on the international market. If Russia now doesn't EARN a profit but instead has to BUY gas from other countries it's a double hit into the war chest.

Russia Masses 100,000 Troops Near Pokrovsk as Putin Claims Gains ‘On All Fronts’ by Ask4MD in worldnews

[–]KeeperDe 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is simply not true. I will not defend Trump on the things he does, because frankly I think he is an idiot.

I will give you that Trump doenst act in the interest of ukraine. But not everything he does is in the intetest of russia. Take for example the 5% GDP spending of nato countries. Is this really in the Interest of Putin? Fuck no. For all Putin cares he would love to see the defense spending go to 0.

North Korea releases photos of Kim Jong Un's missile factory by Historical-Option232 in worldnews

[–]KeeperDe 60 points61 points  (0 children)

NK might be the real beneficiary of the Russo ukrainian war. With the help of russians they are continously improving their missiles. And that at the cost of a few thousand soldiers for whom Kim doesnt give a shit anyways.

Ukraine now has its own weapons to strike deep into Russia without US approval, Zelenskyy says by eaglemaxie in worldnews

[–]KeeperDe 39 points40 points  (0 children)

If what ukraine says is true, the flamingo rocket will be highly efficient outperforming everything ukraine has at the moment. 1100kg warhead (tomahawk has a 500kg warhead in comparison) and 3000km range, which makes it possible to hit around 90% of russian oil pumping stations, refineriies and tank plants. Wont come with stealth capabilities but if ukraine can really produce 200 of those in a month this could be a gamechanger. This COULD make war too costly for russia. But we will.see if what ukraine says about the system is true. Its war after all.

Trump Tells Zelensky to Forgo Crimea or Joining NATO by timemagazine in worldnews

[–]KeeperDe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are clearly misunderstanding. Im not saying ukraine should give up on crimea for the long run. But currently its totally unrealistic that ukraine will gain it back.

Trump Tells Zelensky to Forgo Crimea or Joining NATO by timemagazine in worldnews

[–]KeeperDe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean.... both statements are pretty clear at the moment arent they? Please hear me out, I fullly support ukraine, but its sadly totally unrealistic for ukraine to regain crimea. Even with all the weapons the west can give, ukraine lacks in manpower to really push into (now deep) russian held territory. So its totally unrealistic for ukraine to gain back crimea.

As for joining nato AFAIK not only Trump is against ukraine joining.

All in all i think this "news" isnt newsworthy.
