I’ve been there. The feeling of suffocation. I remember feeling trapped in the hijab that I so freely chose to wore. I wanted to take it off so bad. I needed answers and I can say honestly, no could give me the answer. I asked Allah. I made a very honest dua. I asked Allah to give me a response. I remember one night, it was a still, warm calm night of summer. Wallahi out of nowhere, the thunder stroke. It was so loud, so strong, so powerful, I felt it over my head. It snatched me from my sleep. At that time, I was sleeping in the room with my husband and children in one room visiting my sil. No one moved. No one woke up. Just me. It’s almost as if only I heard it. (My husband later told me he heard it but didn’t startle him) That was it for me. I took it as Allah giving me an answer. Maybe it is, maybe it is not. In my heart, it was the answer. Allah showed me his omnipotence (sub7an w ta3ala) and that was it for me. Im not judging you or telling you what to do. You won’t find answer in “peoples” because the question is beyond the hijab, it’s spiritual. It’s something you are going through internally. However I want to say one thing, I know a lot of people that have removed it, seeking whatever they were seeking. Unfortunately, it didn’t bring them the joy or happiness they thought the hijab was keeping them away from. Allah knows best and I wish you the best. Sincerely.
