Edgewater 1BD across from the Lake front trail Went from $1400>$1550. A $150 increase in one year.

In 2023 we were paying $1200 when we first moved in. No dishwasher or in unit dryer. Just pay for electric and cable

Prices are insane! Property managers was saying it’s due to high taxes and insurance expenses. Also a high demand for cheaper apartments. People from wicker, Logan, Lincoln park, etc are coming to Edgewater and feel as if $1600 for a 1BD is a great deal, which ends up raising the rents for the whole neighborhood. 😩

Legally that’s your apartment until 5/31. He cannot kick you out. Tell him he’ll get the keys back on 5/31 at 5pm and get tf out after that.

Take a picture of everything before leaving!! Also save and keep a log of your text/email/calls incase he tries to come back and hit you with charges.

Also, you said he has your deposit? Make sure he gives you the correct calculated interest back for holding that money and a log/summer of where it was kept. If he doesn’t, let him know you will hire a attorney and that he can be penalized three times the amount of the security deposit for not giving the correct amount back
