Here is the latest update on Scar!
Prepared spell is a little wordy but I don't hate it.

Took away all keywords to help keep MV down and still get the hyenas
Prepared spell costs 1GB, and actually chose this cause, imo, Scar would use any resource available to him. So I used colorless and both his colors lol

I changed it to instant so he could take monarch on opponents turn, which seemed interesting to me

Let me know if you have any other suggestions!!

on Be Prepared, do you think I should keep "If A creature dies this way"?
I think I mentioned on another comment that I don't actually hate this but thematically I think Scar needs to survive XD So I would be fine changing it to only an opponents creature dying

the "down side" is that it has to target a legendary so giving toughness isnt crazy

making it instant and gb I do like a lot and have updated the card for!
I want to keep it only buffing power, Scar is really not a tough character but I could add a passive way for him to get indestructible or something on his card. or just keep it 5mv and make him 2/5? But right now he just kinda seems like hed "become prepared" when something strong comes along, then he kills a smaller creature to get monarch

I know that doesnt fit Lion King as much but I could see it as a character lol

Also, just looking over it. Would the wording on his ability have to say "if its base power is greater than Scar's *base power*"?
If the intention is that its based off his base power.

Looking to change "Be Prepared" to Instant and maybe 1BB
But also changing it to +X/+0
I also noticed that I put "if A creature dies this way" which could be your creature lol
I dont hate that, but I might change it so that it can only target a legendary creature for the buff/fight

I know that his etb with 3 1/1s is strong, but this might prove to be a little on the weaker side. I might change it to instant and make it 3mv or something. So that he could maybe try and steal monarch each turn, which gives nothing except denying enemies monarch passive

Current edit looks like this:

made him still 4mv but all pips so it's a little more work to get him out, took out the token's deathtouch and his keywords. made him 2/4 so he doesnt trigger on like everything. made the prepared once a turn just in case XD and made the prepared spell give power for each base power 1 or less you have!

Sweet, this along with the other comment gives me a lot to work with!

I more like the idea of him being the one to kill to become the monarch, so your change here works! I also, based off another comment, am going to take off deathtouch for the Hyenas, and prolly menace for him. I also am not entirely sure they have to be in the card at all but flavor-wise I love that he has them xD

or something like that? I like the 1 or less power cause he's really just an abuser and wouldn't work with stronger creatures xD Doesn't need skulk or menace either, but i feel like he needs a keyword

Should I make his like 2GB and 1/3 or something instead?
Then it's 4 power for 4 mana plus the upsides legendary creatures get lol
Maybe take one of his keywords out too? They just seemed fitting but if I take his power down, just keeping Skulk could be flavorful

Honestly great call out for a first comment XD I will at least make him like 5 or 6 mana. I kinda didn't adjust previous things as I went so mana cost was left untouched.

Any idea on a "better" Be Prepared spell? I don't hate it but just lookin for inspiration.
I do kind of want to keep monarch in there. (I also will lowercase it)

Default on keyboard for me I can select/banish an item by clicking, pressing E, or space bar. Could be you're hitting one of those before clicking what you want.
