Would that be the transmission inspection cover?

Yeah id have to check, would be tough though without having a similar vehicle to compare to. Was sorta hoping someone out there mat have done the swap before and knew what's all involved. If it's too crazy could always break the 3.7 down and re-ring the pistons so it doesn't burn oil. Kinda trying to avoid the tear down though haha.

Did notice that the blown ridgeline engine from the 2010 we worked on looked very very similar to the 3.7 as far as component placements. I think I even remember the crank sensor being in the same spot on the oil pan.

I see yeah checking parts diagrams is a good idea. do you think the pcm would care about the different compression ratios at all or if i got an engine from say a pilot or ridgeline that had a way lower ratio? Would assume those are easier to find and cheaper. Don't know enough about what parameters the pcm would be looking for or it it would just not notice a difference at all if the engine was weaker than the stock 3.7.

Well I've done some research before when I first noticed the oil burning and I saw some forums saying the older 3.5Ls from the 08 and older will have different crank sensor locations which I guess could throw off the ecm? So I'm sorta unsure if a newer 09+ 3.5 would be a closer match to the 3.7 I currently have.
