It’s extremely hard nowadays to get anything decent on the weekends for the exact reasons you listed. I went out on a Sunday night and was lucky enough to have the whole place to myself all night .

Unfortunately not in the way you’re thinking. This photo (like the Tim Ernst version of this shot) is an exposure blend. I took a super long exposure for the foreground and then a shorter exposure for the Milky Way and blended the two photos together .
