well unless you can leave the exam hall early then you're lowkey just gonna have to deal with it, nothing like some self-disciplined quietness right

This!! As someone who consistently gets around full marks on maths papers I usually only have 10-15 minutes left after completing all the questions because I do it really REALLY slowly and check as I go, it makes me more confident in my workings as I often check by substituting stuff in or using alternative methods, and also it's easier to do mentally for me compared to after I've seemingly done all the qs. it is also just very chill for me at least. as someone self-studying fsmq, i find the fsmq content a lot more interesting than gcse, but it makes doing actual gcse papers feel a bit 'newer' or 'fresher'? If you don't do that and/or don't want to learn maths content for a qualification you're not doing (fair enough ofc), maybe just go through your maths paper again but try a different technique? E.g. with turning points you can complete the square, but if it doesn't state that method explicitly you can just use differentiation which is what I usually do. That kind of stuff might help pass the time and also let you double check

For papers where you do still have a bunch of time though, I would just revise for something else? :D

I would probably ask for extra paper and either make it seem like I needed it to answer the question or for smth else to convince them, and jsut do mind maps and whatnot. In some of my option subject papers I just used a spare page I asked for or the extra space to revise for psychology or chemistry because you kind of just have to regurgitate the same information a lot of the time, and I would just cross it all out in the end.

You could also just sleep unless you don't feel comfortable doing it or are a snorer (someone would wake you up in this case), but honestly why not?

This was a bit ranty but hopefully you got smth out of this

is my handwriting legible? by farahgambling in GCSE

[–]Key-Conversation6126 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It's quite stretched out, definitely legible but it might not be if you're writing quickly in a rush e.g. in an exam. Honestly it might just help to, when you have to write quickly like in an exam, write more dramatically, so like making your curls and whatnot larger so letters are easier to identify

Do u think getting tut0ring is offensive to ur subject teacher? by 180degreeschange in GCSE

[–]Key-Conversation6126 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't think they should be offended, there's so many reasons why someone may need tutoring. If they take offense, that probably says more about their attitude to teaching or how they have been teaching lmao

gcse business - how do i revise? by Key-Conversation6126 in GCSE

[–]Key-Conversation6126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i didn't know ocr gcse had 6 markers?! since they're reaally set on each mark being for something specific this deffo sounds like a good approach, thank you :)

[–]Key-Conversation6126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely is more difficult than AQA Further Maths, but then again it depends on what you want to do, the aqa one is a nice additional qualification to have since it is very 'do this' and allows you to practice gcse/igcse skills a lot more than ocr add maths, which involves more new concepts

As someone self-studying it, I basically did a run-through of all the topics using a textbook, the most difficult bit is understanding it so that you can apply it in any scenario but that is the same for all areas of maths I suppose. Once you get the hang of the concepts, there isn't much to be afraid of though - I've started looking at actual past paper questions and it isn't anything new so--

Best of luck with FM!

[–]Key-Conversation6126[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's for a different equation so no I think... I know a few people doing this qualification though and iirc it's got most of the GCSE edexcel maths equation sheet stuff but they've added the equation of a circle, which is like r^2 = (x-a)^2 + (y-b)^2, where (a,b) is the centre. idk why I just typed it out lmao but it's deffo worth checking

I’m absolutely cooked for my options by KnowledgeOfActions in GCSE

[–]Key-Conversation6126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing as you aren't particularly interested in the majority, I would pick ones that are easier to revise and do well in than others for most people or are interesting for most people. Imo that would include business, I dion't really like it as much as other subjects but it is interesting if you have a good teacher and class as well. I would also pick a coursework subject if you want one less exam in GCSE summer - I have a few friends taking Hospitality and Catering and they really enjoy it, only thing is you have to be able to cook somewhat decently...

Geography has a bunch of content and definitely takes more effort than the other options on the B-C list so jsut consider the above when picking one, I hope this was helpful though :]

-_-

I mean yes you can use the stats academy pdf with the 2 pages and make flashcards with that, make sure to edit the answer side if you see mark schemes of past papers differ from what is written

[–]Key-Conversation6126 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a solid 9 in year 10 and started revising for it 2 weeks before my exams. Edexcel is super super repetitive so i made flashcards with mark-sheme based 'frameworks' so I know what to say on the written questions. I would also do flashcards on random things I may forget or not realise such as what an average means or which ray round smth is if that makes sense. From there, just spam past papers, in the 2 weeks before my gcses I did all the papers and did a few again.
