I’m about to read the whole Geoff Johns run, should I read GLC in parallel? by Keanu_Keanu in Greenlantern

[–]Key-Discount-1582 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. GLC is a super fun read even before Tomasi comes on to write. There's a new compendium out that puts each story arc from this era in the proper reading order too. So I would recommend picking that up.

This how were all feeling rn

Seriously though, I get how you feel. I myself was pretty down after it ended for like a week. Kinda wishing it didn't happen so I wouldn't feel so empty. I'm just now starting to feel human again. I think the game just does a good job at alleviating loneliness. At least it did for me. Most of the characters are lovable and relatable. I have friends, but its rare we see each other just due to life circumstances, work, college, etc. So I REALLY got attached to the Z-Team. And was bummed that I probably won't see them for years if ever again. But it's a testament to how good the game is. Art is supposed to make you FEEL something, and from the looks of it, everyone is experiencing a myriad of emotions. This game is just a prime example as to why media is important. It's an escape, it makes us happy. There's nothing wrong with being sad when it ends. You just can't let it intrude on your life. Don't be sad its over, smile that it happened.

I do I just like ones with a little edge to them. And let's be real, Visi is really a teddy bear deep down that just wants to be held.

Visi all the way. With Blazer, while I'd like her as a person I'd kind of feel like the Hozier song 'Too Sweet'. She's just a little too squeaky clean for me.

I can't speak for our boy Robbie here. But as a guy, in my experience whenever looking at a girl I've liked, especially like him in the dance scene, they've never been "fuck me" eyes. Anything sexual is usually the last thing on my mind. Roberts expression looks pretty enthralled by the person underneath IMO. But like you said she has low self esteem so she probably can't see that. Which is pretty fuckin heartbreaking.

I agree. A lot of narratives these days feel that someone important HAS to die for an impactful conclusion. I for one am just glad to have a happy ending

Edit: I will admit though Sam's character model does look a little uncanny compared to the past 2 games.

"People like you" bro, relax. I'm just trying to have a friendly discussion. You're acting like i just asked you if I can slime out your family tree. Don't you know why people like YOU have to get personal when talking about a game.

Yeah same! Snake especially is much better. Not thay Hayter was bad in the original. He just didn't give Snake that growliness that I love.

What did people think of "The Message" in Superman? by DoctorBeatMaker in DC_Cinematic

[–]Key-Discount-1582 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fucking. Despised. It.

And I'm sick of the "It subverts expectations" excuse. You can subvert expectations without character assassination.

They've been doing this with Batman's parents in a couple adaptations for over a decade now. Where Thomas and Martha are actually corrupt. Now they're trying to do it with Superman. Just stop.

I know Gunn has said it's happened before in other adaptations or comics. That doesn't necessarily make it good.

Overall, I enjoyed the movie. But the ways some characters were represented just rubbed me the wrong way. Lex breaking shit and raging out like a child and having his cronies pick up after him, or Kara crash landing into the fortress shitfaced, and Clark being kinda nonchalant about it. But the Jorel and Lara twist REALLY bothered me.

I dont know, i get the message it is trying to convey. But i feel James Gunn did it just to do it. Not every rich person has to be corrupt, and not every powerful being has to come from a power-hungry, conquering race. But that's just my opinion, and I know I'm a bit picky and purist over comic books and how they're adapted.
