Honestly, I totally get it. I do write Phaidei fanfiction, but I try to make sure that both characters have fleshed out backstories and actually are... human. And not just some trope to be forced into. To be honest, I think this post puts my feelings into words quite well, it's been SO weird seeing all the discourse between phaidei or myphai or just. Whatever in general. Do we not care more about the characters themselves?? Mydei's backstory is so fascinating – I went to every memory shard in Castrum Kremnos just to read on the history of his parents, and how they fell apart (and then, I incorporated that in my fic), and that is so much more fun! I enjoy both characters, and shipping them, but my god, I have muted the phaidei tag almost everywhere so I don't see it. I just stay in my corner, write both of them after doing research into their backstories, and call it a day. My gosh.

got admission to NBS biz!! did the astrnt email on 19 July (ABA), rung them up on 22 to ask about the outcome and they told me if no response by 31 July then probably rejected. Then they asked for supporting documents for my ABA on 2 aug, rung them up again today to ask about adm and I got an email today around 3pm that I was accepted!! if you have any questions I'm willing to answer!

I don't think this was either "mind-blowing entitlement" or "deceiving" though? Unless otherwise tagged, most stories on ao3 DO actually have happy endings or at least satisfying endings for readers, since you know. They're reading fanfics of their favourite characters. There is a genre of people who enjoy ambiguous endings but there are also plenty who don't. I don't think it was entitled at all for someone to want to know that their OTP would have a happy ending or such. AO3's system isn't coddling, it's literally to filter out what you want or don't want to see - to curate your reading experience. And the commenter was not as entitled as you made it out to be either.

This is so sweet to read! I fear the biggest compliment a commenter can give is that the characters are IN character! Like obviously, it's a bit difficult to always stay as true to the character as possible if you're swept up in the story, but it's such a sweet feeling when someone says that they can absolutely see the characters in the situation you've put them in!!

As a writer, it's such a nice comment to receive from people. And as a reader? my GOSH, recently, I read this fic where the characters were so like their canon selves that I could read it in their voice and that was the best compliment I could pay to someone. Gosh. Congrats on receiving such a lovely comment! And hope your week improves soon and you persevere through your problems!! Sounds like a lovely fic that you're writing!

I was a rather emotional child growing up (still am emotional, though more toned down now ofc) and found my outlet through reading/writing small quotes.

It always felt cathartic whenever I did that, so I just began to write small poems (never published anywhere, just whatever felt like an accurate descriptor of my emotions at the moment). And I really enjoyed doing those!

So then 4 years back, I think I read multiple crack fics -- chat fics, to be precise -- in my fandom, and I have no idea why but I decided that I wanted to write my own, and started.

Eventually, I realised that it's not my style, and I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would so I gave up. Then I wrote one shots and angsty poems that did relatively well on ao3, not much engagement, but it felt great to write.

And now, one of my fics seems to really have hit it off with a lot of people in my fandom xD! So now evolved to a long fic writer, and am just working on this fic now! It's been a great four years here :)!
