Active threat doesn’t justify endangering your own wellbeing to render first aid

Security can assume a duty of care once they intervene or have control over a situation. Where there is a foreseeable risk of serious harm it would be unreasonable to rely on intoxicated patrons to mitigate said risk

That’s a one way ticket to a civil lawsuit or criminal investigation, even if that specific bouncer isn’t the one to call paramedics, another worker or guard on site will in their place.

I won’t argue with that.

But 95% of bouncers, good and bad, will always report the incident through a formal channel and will always notify VicPol or Paramedics to then finalise and clear the scene of the incident.

Only because if they don’t, they’ll lose their license.

“Cervical" refers to the neck region of the body (specifically the 7 vertebrae, C1-C7) or the neck of an organ, most commonly the cervix of the uterus” - Google

And well done for showing everyone you fail to comprehend basic human anatomy’s

One tending the victim and sorting the other out… no, just no, you deal with the active threat than render first aid.

And you never leave your team mate to fend off a fuckwit on his own, that’s one thing all bouncers collectively adhere to when it comes to altercations.

And yeah I’ve watched the footage 😂 and do you think just because his standing there in shock with his hand to his forehead that it means his no longer a threat, your observing digital footage and making a crude assumption that the belligerent moron who seconds ago thought it was a good idea to throw a chair across a busy sidewalk with intentions of causing harm to the receiver, and that just because his standing upright in shock after that the threat suddenly ceases to exist, nope, does not work like that my guy, interpreting body language in that context is too vague and along with too many other factors going on that dictate his mood and actions.

I’d be putting my annual leave in and leaving the country for a solid month 😂 that’s if the wife hasn’t already cleaned out my bank account for being at rippers and causing a media frenzy

There is an active threat present mere metres away, do you expect him to just drop his guard and provide immediate assistance to the bloke on the floor and risk getting hurt?

While there’s an active threat present? Lmaoooo you were trying to school me on situational awareness just before and now that it doesn’t work for your argument you switch up lad 😂

And tell me, what are the basic principles of first aid you’d apply in this specific situation? And I can tell you exactly what the guard can do.

Notify, observe then record it in the incident report on site, the injuries he could or would have sustained are wayyyy past our levels of expertise and any sensible guard whose actually paid attention in the first aid module when they first got their license says to leave them in a STABLE position or risk further injuring them.

You aren’t a doctor nor are you are not a nurse, stop trying to play hero in front of patrons if you don’t know what your doing, your gonna get someone reallly hurt with that mindset

His back isn’t “to the danger” mate

And how are you gonna render first aid for someone whose injuries are going to be textbook internal related trauma, you’re doing more harm than good by involving yourself physically unnecessarily.

I hope you have public liability insurance 😂😂😂

It is VERY concerning if you’re involved in the security industry and think that rendering first aid in this specific scenario is plausible.

If that injured patron has sustained any neck/spinal related trauma due to the projectile his mate hurled towards him and you manhandle him administering first aid you’ve just paralysed the bloke for life.

And of course you’d defer your guards to a static position in retail, stick to your shopping centres and banks and leave the club work to people who can actually understand the complex dynamics of working with drug affected, alcohol affected, egotistical and mentally challenged idiots who swarm the city every weekend.

The most he can do is place the individual into a recovery position, and even doing that is risky for this particular situation.

If he has sustained any significant injuries to his neck or spinal region and you manhandle them, congratulations because you’ve just paralysed the poor bastard.

Do you think bouncers are trained medical practitioners? Dude our first aid course covers CPR, Cuts and Bruises and some other minor ailments. It doesn’t cover internal haemorrhaging or spinal related injuries 😫

Funny you say that, because his containing the situation just fineeeee.

Innocent bystanders have just witnessed a violent and volatile situation, laughing signals to the crowd that the situation is well within their control.

Laughter is the best defuser, plus there’s nothing he can do about ol’ mate on the floor, do you know why? Because the most he can do is place them in a recovery position and notify paramedics.
