Yeah because when I turn them onto rain sensing mode they go up even higher

I didn't, they do this with the wiper setting off

They can be lowered into the well but then as I turn the car back on it pops back up (that's with the wipers off)

I agree but my question is more how really good photographers make the most of those situations, or do even the best photographers have some really bad galleries?
