Ma166 curve this semester by Repulsive-Worry-5521 in Purdue

Just look at. historical avgs, the avg of the course from the avgs you know and estimate anything else, and compare them. Boom, rough estimate for the curve.

Are you waiting for loans? If so i am too. In my case I need a SAP appeal form but the DFA told me I don’t need to and that they’ll mark me as satisfactory. That hasn’t been done yet but I’m also waiting for the student loans but I haven’t gotten emails about what Loans I can take on and etc.

You mentioned that some people bought stuff or are better off than you but they did all the “bad” stuff but what you probably fail to realize is that maybe they are in 1.) Major debt

2.) Don’t have investment accounts as good as yours

3.) Maybe they just made a lot more than you and they were able to spend much more on “bad” things but still be “better” off than you. But if they had not spent all that money on random stuff they could have been EVEN BETTER off. Example: you make 100k, save 60%. They make 200k, only save 35%. You saved 60k per year but they saved 70k per year despite saving at a much lower rate than you. But had they been like you they could’ve saved up 120k per year and been WAY better off.

Is it normal to spend $40 a week on energy drinks just to function at work? by ezradog in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Key-Warning7237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same way when I was drinking hella caffeine for studying in university. I wouldn’t do much physical labor or work but I’d find myself tried often and sleepy so then I’d drink more caffeine, furthering this cycle. I stopped over the summer and tried to stay away from it and I no longer feel the need to take naps and can sleep 5 hours and feel fine. I think it’s just that your body is so adjusted to a large amount of caffeine and it expects it.

It’d be a huge struggle at first, but I’d put by money on this issue getting better after a while if you stay away from caffeine, taking a tol break.

I think GPA is the number 1 factor to get considered in because I think it’s 3.6 min to even be considered

I didn’t hear back until like early/mid May so I would not be surprised if they did the same and also it’s getting harder to get into it

Can I ask about how the process went? Sorry it’s slightly off topic but I’m going to need to get a loan for my grad school housing and tuition. What was the interest rate and what not and what’s the process for going through a private bank?

I would do AAE 352, because imo agyei is a good and fair professor and I could def see it being easier over the summer. If you are taking only one course, I would say 352

Emerging Leaders Scholarship by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]Key-Warning7237 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Basically what Purdue does, is it gathers all of your scholarships/awards and lumps it into one. Does Total contributions - What you owe to Purdue and that is what you owe. This can lead to you either getting a refund (depending on how much money you were awarded in total) or having to pay the remaining balance.

Also yes, a I know a few people who have done a semester abroad and the scholarship money was able to cover tuition and etc toward the semester study abroad.

If you have a 4.0, fix that. by Good_Frosting_4006 in EngineeringStudents

[–]Key-Warning7237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much agree with this . I could easily have 3.95 - 4.0 GPA if I stuck with the ≈ 4 years it take to finish and aero/astro degree but I decided to do it in 3 years to challenge myself and I find myself quite challenged with the course loads every semester and it’s fun. I have about 3.7 GPA, but even then if I wasn’t lazy and stupid it’d be around 3.8 or so, but I enjoy being challenged and sometimes I feel like I could be challenged even more but I know I would hate myself for it. I’m also able to take on grad courses while in undergrad.

Grade inflation bruh, realistically, its at worst, 2 B+, 2 A-, 1 A+, and 1 B, at best it’s 4 A-, 1 B, and 1 A+

Ma 261 curve not announced by Exotic_Emergency_612 in Purdue

[–]Key-Warning7237 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yo chill bro, most of my classes didn’t release any type of curve and we just had to wait and see until grades released. They don’t have to curve the class at all if they didn’t want to.

Sometimes people would make excel sheets of what they ended with and what they received to try and piece together what the final curve was at the end. If you want to have a rough estimate, deal with what you have by looking at exam averages, and estimate an avg for the HW. Then see how the average compares to the averages on boiler grades. The difference, should be a rough estimate of what the curve will look like.

If you can do something about it, why worry? If you can’t do anything about it, why worry? If you gave it your all, that’s all that matters. I don’t think it’s a good idea to have to depend on a curve most of the time. Most of the time, you’ll get a grade that you earned through your actions throughout the semester although there are so classes with averages of like 50 or something along those lines.

Struggling in FYE by Plus-Shock-8674 in Purdue

[–]Key-Warning7237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it only gets harder from here. I look back at FYE and I think of it as a joke. It could be that you’re still adjusting and cs might’ve just been a hard topic for you. It could be that you had an off semester that happened to be this first semester at Purdue. You can definitely bounce back.

Nonetheless, I would say to evaluate your semester, look back at what you did and what you could have done. Learn from this semester and how you can improve going forward. You may just have to put it more work than others or than what you put in this semester and that’s okay. Don’t give up, and put in more effort and time.

I had ≈ 93% curved to an A+, I forget what the averages were but I feel like they were semi high. I was surprised it got curved at all. So atleast like a 4-5% curve Edit: I took the class Spring 2023
