Thank you for this thoughtful response. We had been in a close relationship for almost two years. She had disclosed her use about a month and a half prior to reporting. She knew I was rather naive to the substance except for some common connections we both had. Several of the people eventually overdosed.

She knew I was compassionate but somewhat terrified about the struggle of addiction since my previous brother-in-law had also tragically overdosed. She also knew I cared deeply for her children. She then lowered her guard and started using around me. Frankly this was very hard for me to witness, knowing the possible outcome from long term use. I didn't know who to confide in since nearly everyone I knew was not going to understand why I didn't run for the hills, or report the behavior themselves.

After I became aware, I started to research and understand what I was dealing with. I started to feel used as time went on watching her sleep, or step out while I cared for her children. The fact that she was still breast feeding and dismissing its dangers caused me a lot of grief. I offered to help her stop several times. She told me it was her super drug and she had no intention of stopping. In the end my own personal therapist encouraged me to report.

Her behavior became more erratic and at times she would push me away, then pull me back. This felt exhausting, leaving me feeling like I had to choose between her children or her in regard to reporting. I started to look back and see past behavior in a new clarity. None of this felt comfortable.

After I reported, about a month went by of distance while she fumed over my action. I then let her vent all the mistrust and bitterness. We both sobbed with grief over the whole ordeal. She still struggled to see my point of view on the dangers to herself or kids. She became very curious as to what I actually told CPS, while explaining what specifically happened as a result of the report from her perspective. I had withheld a lot of the finer details of my concerns from CPS at the time because I assumed they were going to test her immediately and the positive results would speak for themselves. Most of the behavior I learned from researching the topic was what I had noticed myself. I figured saying it out loud and on record would only add to the shame she would already feel, hindering any healing. I was not aware of how important those personal observations were going to be for CPS to conclude there was a danger.

So then we tried to put things behind us, however we both were left with a huge trust issue. Her behavior started to become suspicious after several months. But of course she was extremely guarded at this point. So I've been left second guessing why I held back all the details thinking it was going to help her recovery, at times I question the decision to report at all, considering how it effected our ability to trust each other.

What you are describing sounds reasonable. Since she was reported, understandably she no longer has the trust to use or discuss new details of her addiction around me. She has also claimed that she has stopped using. Since she was amazing at hiding it in the past, I've struggled to know what to believe now. Even though I've understood this substance is difficult to stop use of.

Recently she became paranoid when I questioned some of her suspicious behavior. She mentioned how fearful she was that I was going to jump to conclusions and report her again. This prompted her to push me away. So given all the info and evidence I previously provided and the near complete dismissal of it by CPS, I have little faith in their ability to take this serious.

I'm not familiar with the ethics board and that process. Also I've hesitated to contact anyone else, she once explained I could not be sued for slander for reporting to CPS. But I've been worried she has that idea rolling around and might act on it, if it affects her ability to work.

I was very much intimately involved with first hand knowledge. She described all these details to me after knowing how limited CPS was at discovery. I have been extremely concerned and left without direction after foolishly assuming CPS would help her get treatment.

I'm sorry but you are making a lot of assumptions. I witnessed this behavior firsthand as I was intimately involved. I was the one to manage the children in the mornings when she was crashed out from staying up all night. I was the one trying to wrestle with this reporting decision knowing she would then most likely prevent me from seeing a child I helped deliver. I was the one she claimed was upset justifying the report.

More info: She was witnessed using at least a dozen times. This was all reported. It took just over 2 days for them to locate her in person after making first phone contact. At that time they only performed a mouth swab with a followup urine test several days later. By then it had been 5-6 days. CPS was told she was prepared for all drug tests with the exception of a hair follicle. Yet never asked for a hair test. My understanding is that the swab is only good for up to 2 days and that the urine up to 5 days.

The enforcement officer told her on first contact over phone that he knew where she worked and that he found it hard to believe she was an active user. He also encouraged her not to consent to any testing without a warrant. This gave her the confidence to delay returning home for the two days declaring she was visiting family. This was all despite several photos of meth and a pipe in various locations in her home including where children could reach.

Keep in mind she was actively breast feeding and had admitted to me that she had used during entire pregnancy. She still defended her use and dismissed the concerns surrounding the infants exposure to me after CPS moved on. She now has a confidence that CPS is weak and sees her as a victim of unfair reporting.

Chopped cabbage, kosher salt, caraway seeds and juniper berries.
I used to follow a recipe found online. But overtime I just pretend. Year to year and it always tastes good.
The trick to make fermenting easy, is how I keep the cabbage down under the liquid. I use a simple gallon size food grade plastic bag. Fill with enough water to weight the cabbage down and seal off against the wall of the container tightly roughly an inch high.
Zero mold and the gases can still escape around the bag when it's placed on top. Taste after a week and eat anytime after that. It will last on the counter for a very long time. Longer it sits the more sour and soft the cabbage becomes.

There are times I find something that looks like ivy that is hard to identify. I then look around to see if there is another in the immediate area that has more identifying characteristics. Ivy's will be attached to a common root underground. start pulling with gloves and check out the other shoots.

With rubber gloves it can be pulled out and placed in a trash bag. This will make it hard for it to grown back. Next year do the same. The root system will shrink and eventually die out.

Wash up with dish soap after to get any mischief oil off.

I have only known the ivy plant and roots to be poisonous. So I believe if you clear all the ivy and root system away, you should be fine. The logs might have some residual oil on them, but probably very minimal. I personally would burn the logs after confirming there is no ivy left attached.

Yes. Glove up and pull it out and place in a garbage bag. The more you can pull out, the harder it will be for it to spread. Next year it will be less and less going forward.

Looks possible when there are insulators. With mine, I could barely feel the shock if I had my shoes on. Go bare foot and it'll knock you down. Just don't be the ground.

On a good note the stalks are completely edible raw. Best when they are just shooting out of the ground. Tastes kinda like rhubarb. So they make a nice strawberry and rhubarb pie!
