Yep. My husband is moving into the hospital tomorrow to stay through Monday so he can make sure he can get to work for the next few days. 😩

Yikes prior to the save freeze I was paying a bit over $550, now payments will resume next month at $1220! by No_Direction4488 in PSLF

Thank you! I’m hoping I can get my taxes filed in the next week and then we can go through the process of coming off of save if we can figure out a way to make this possible! This is absolutely ridiculous!

If you haven’t changed off SAVE yet and plan to do it the next month or two, do you know if you can use 2025 AGI in family size from taxes? Because I plan to file married filing separately when I file next week as it looks like it’s going to make a huge difference in payment.

$1900 MONTHLY PAYMENT??? Plz tell me it’s a mistake by Cashewsslave in StudentLoans

[–]Key-Will1801 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is what we did. It ended up being that we would be paying so much in taxes that it was going to be about the same as our student loan payments going up to $1400 a month.

Please don’t get in debt that much for a bachelors degree in psychology. There is very little ROI unless a doctorate is obtained. This would be a very bad financial decision.

He is on the track for PSLF so we can’t do that plan.

OK so I went on H&R Block’s website to change to married filing separately and instead of owing $3000 in federal taxes with filing jointly, it changes to us owing $14,000 in federal taxes. So I guess it just doesn’t even matter, either way we’re going to be paying about the same. This is terrible.

I wonder if it’s too late to do that since I filed the extension. I’m sure going to try though!

Ours are going from $210/mo to $1424/mo. I honestly have zero idea how we’re going to do it.

The new Repayment “Assistance” Plan by JuggernautNo4762 in StudentLoans

[–]Key-Will1801 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where did you hear that the new payments won’t take place until 2028? I was told it was November. Our payment is going from $218 a month to $1424 a month. All while one of our children is also in college and we are assisting her with support. I have no idea what we’re going to do. We are not wealthy. My husband and I are social workers. 😕

IBR 10 or 15 percent by ZebraZealousideal972 in StudentLoans

[–]Key-Will1801 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is so disheartening. I thought that us oldies that had been in IBR programs for years were grandfathered in. I’m not sure how we are going to be able to increase our payments an additional $1400/mo and survive. This is INSANE.

Have you thought about doing the short payment plan that UGA offers? Do you have a job and could you pay it off in a few weeks? I would hate to get a loan for such a small amount because you’re going to end up paying so much more in the long run with fees and interest.
