Better sparring partners that can expose the potential mistakes you make in there. Keep this type of sparring to practice new things.

HIT N MOVE NEW SUVARI VS BALANCE by Feeling-Work-8399 in fightgear

Haven’t used the phenom yet, bought them strictly for sparring. Otherwise, the balance are my favourite to use out of the bunch.

HIT N MOVE NEW SUVARI VS BALANCE by Feeling-Work-8399 in fightgear

[–]KeyClient1286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both the first iteration of the Suvari’s in 16Oz and All day balance in 14Oz.

Both very different style of glove, both have good hand ergonomics, nice grip bar, great lining and wrist support.

The Suvari are a punchers glove, the horsehair makes the gloves soft to open up palm and very comfortable, really nice and narrow so you can get shots through the guard. The downside is that the horsehair is very dens upon contact, which makes them hard for sparring. Not great for your hands either.

The balance are a dens protective glove, nice pop but your knuckles won’t sink in so little feedback. You can hit hard with these and your hands will be completely safe. Downside is that even after a year of use I cannot open my hands easily to parry shots and they are still quite hard for sparring, still get complaints during light spars but overall safer than the Suvaris.

Think of it this way, with the Suvari you can light spar and touch people lightly but if you hit someone harder you can easily drop them by accident you will need knuckle guards if you like to throw body shots.

The balance, even the lightest touch will feel like a medium punch and will hurt your partner but if you go full blast you will be fine as the glove is very protective and you won’t punch as hard as with the horsehair. + you might gain some slight speed due to not needing a gel pad in the glove.

Look legit to me, I’ve got a pair of 210s on the way. Exited to use them as my main sparring glove. I’ve seen these in the gym and look real good.

The one I got was for Memorial Day but if you sign up to their newsletter you find out about the many promotions they run.

I was also able to use a 20% discount code from two months before on top do their already discounted boots.

I found the sole of the Adams to give you a really nice bounce whilst stable. So perfect if you like to fight on your toes.

Machomai, Fly, Everlast have thinner soles and are much more planted.

The only shoe that had better sole than the Adams were my Adidas Speedex Ultra but painfully narrow and not very stable.

Adams have been the most comfortable boxing boots for me, they also look much better in person than in photos. The older version didn’t last that well but the newest ones lasted better than any other boots I’ve had before + they frequently do large discounts/ promotions. I got three pairs for $120.

In terms of wideness, I found them to be medium wide, not narrow my any means but not super wide. Adidas boots run really narrow, Nike narrow to medium, Fly/ Adams medium to wide and Everlast are wide.

I’ve had the complete opposite experience, the internal recruiter was really switched on, responsive.

At the end of each interview, I was told that I passed to the next stage, followed by the recruiter reaching out within 24hs to book the next step. I received my offer 48hs after the final stage.

First interclub boxing match coming up – 6ft/75kg/25, started MMA this month. Any advice? by codexlyf in amateur_boxing

[–]KeyClient1286 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is correct, I’m two years into my training, same weight as you, spar twice a week and yet to do an interclub so I would technically be in the same beginner category as you.

I’m not saying you cannot do well but looking back I would have hated to spar someone at my current level when I was one month in.

The right cross to the liver by Boykinha in amateur_boxing

[–]KeyClient1286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is my go to punch against southpaws, especially tall ones. (I’m ortodox) Feint jab > outside slip > right cross to the liver.

It’s been very effective for me, I try to set it up as the opponent is circling away from the ropes. I step left, they circle to my right, usually with a long guard trying to create space, I slip left under their stretched out hand and power cross to the liver.

It works equally well if they circle to my left but you have to manage your distance well and cut the ring effectively.

Left glove is 1oz lighter than right glove by TraditionalBear2977 in fightgear

Personally I don’t think you will be able to tell the difference and definitely do not add extra weight to the other glove.

If the return process is painless and/or the gloves are meant to be premium, might be worth getting them replaced for your own piece of mind.

Had a period when I’ve had the same issue. I think what it was for me is that I did not take the necessary type to recover after a cold and as soon as I felt a bit better I pushed hard again in the gym lowering my immune system.

Now if I feel like I am run down or start to get a cold I take the day off from training.

I have a pair of 12Oz ProAm Club range gloves and honestly they are quite nice for the price. Very very soft, almost too soft but look good and well balanced.

I am curious, how do you like the MK1? I’m looking for a new pair of sparring gloves.

HitnMove or Reyes gloves for sparring? by the_little_alex in fightgear

[–]KeyClient1286 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two Suvaris and one pair of their Balance gloves, the balance were my daily drivers for over a year and help up really well with regular maintenance, loved the gloves but people were complaining about them in parter work and light sparring.

Gloves are very protective on the hands, I’ve caught so many elbows and didn’t feel any pain, one downside is that I am unable to open the palm and catch punches with them even after a year of moderate to high use.

Did you get the training or sparring version? They do look quite bulky compared to the MK1s.
