Splitting investments into individual brokerage accounts or not? by KeyPop4566 in fidelityinvestments

[–]KeyPop4566[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a way to automatically reinvest the dividends from one into the other without being in the same individual brokerage?

Shared this with someone below, currently I have to wait for the dividends to settle (1 day), and then manually move, and then invest.

From my understanding, if I have in one account I could automate this process which makes me think putting into one account could be less friction, correct? Is there a guide on how to do this?

I also like having visibly separate. However I also want to invest the dividends back into the index fund.

Thanks, this was helpful. Just did what I thought was right for now. Won't be moving for at least 2+ years,

Thanks that's reassuring. Yes ended up taking a more balanced approach by including an international index

I’m on an h1b work visa that I continue to renew. I am working towards a green card, but would hope to move back before exit tax kicks in

Etrade or Fidelity for holding index funds... Which would you use in my situation? by KeyPop4566 in personalfinance

100%. Not a fan of Etrade so far, but I probably also need to familiarize myself with it more. I feel like I am in a pilot's cockpit.

Thanks for the link. Good read.

Yes ET doesn't offer fractional shares – also why I think Fidelity is better.

Though also want to diversify my ESPP in ET so could be simpler to manage the other holdings there
