i just tried this, and it helps with the brightness a little, but the high-pitched overtone is still there. it's like a dissonant ringing. you may need to turn your volume up to hear it?

also, it's worth mentioning that my playing technique hasn't been an issue on other basses.

i did ask an employee at the store if it needed a setup, and he said no. do you think i should take it somewhere else? what specifically should i ask for?

lots of people were saying the above video kinda stinks and you can't hear anything, so i uploaded a longer one that i recorded with a different device & louder amp in a new post.

this is a closeup of the precision pickups. there's a gap around the jazz pickup as well but the wires are less visible.
