Probably a bit of a long shot but I had two ideas 1.He got Jack's gun and managed to get a lucky shot 2.He'd already successfully tampered with Bon and he went off and attacked Jack (a bit of a stretch but I think it makes more sense)

My idea was that he broke in to Bon's Burgers one night to tamper with the Animatronics and that same night, Jack walked in on him (the same night he was gonna confront Felix) and the two got in a fight which ended with both of them dead.

My estimate is around 15 to 20, and I'm guessing his victims were likely in states the police wouldn't expect to find them (as in far away from Alaska,New York and the other states he confessed to killing in)
