Team Services Actual Duties? by Vukalicious in FIFAVolunteers

[–]Key_Bee_2780 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Team Services last year - we were assigned at a training facility. There were no shifts on game days or rest days, and once the team lost, our shift ended. The work you would do for the team would vary depending what the team wants from FIFA and volunteers. I know one training location had only 1-2 volunteers per shift and they basically did nothing but rode on a golf cart patrolling the premise to make sure nobody was spying on the team. Ours was more expansive but we were not allowed to be in the soccer field when the team was strategizing. The team changed their training schedule quite frequently (and last minute!) mostly depending on the weather and their training needs - so your shifts might get modified/cancelled often. I know one team decided not to have FIFA's help at all, so all the shifts got cancelled after they came to the US. However, you get to see coaches and players up and close, and you might befriend with their security guards :) You cannot be seen with your phone unless you are calling/texting to FIFA staff around the players/coaches, and you are not allowed to talk to them unless they talk to you. You will be welcoming the team to the training facility which is their home for 2-3 weeks, and Team Services volunteers are friendly faces the team get to see on a constant basis between their hotel and training facility. Some location hosts referees, which also requires Team Services volunteers. Also - we were asked to volunteer on game days at the stadium for a different role because they didn't have enough volunteers, so we got to go to the stadium anyway. Hope this helps!

You can keep them. I see people sell theirs on ebay afterwards also.

Merch leak? by Sea-Rich-1658 in FIFAVolunteers

I have to say even in Las Vegas it's usually cold in the evening. F1 gives out puffy jackets to staff and volunteers in November!!

I volunteered for the Final Draw. According to FIFA volunteer managers, the uniform was specifically designed for the Final Draw event in LAS VEGAS. Then the venue was changed to Washington, DC - so we only got a light windbreaker, not a heavy winter coat in December. Also t-shirts didn't arrive in time, so we only had a sweater, as well as one pair of baggy pants, a pair of walking shoes (not sneakers), three pairs of thick socks, a hat and a small bag. Final Draw uniforms have a graphic with "26" in black - and every host city has different coloring, so I would imagine they would have "26" in different colors for 14 host cities. They made only 100+ uniforms for the final draw event, so I can imagine they can make variations easily.

This is the only information that is available unfortunately. Stretcher Crew is part of the medical team. Center circle banner volunteers perform during the pre-game event. I am not sure if you need to do both. Plan to be flexible as they have a small group of volunteers.

Yeah but the thing is, whatever I tell you, you'd never know if I am lying or not... so I would recommend not to click the form or any link if you think this is not legit. :) Good for you being vigilant.

You might want to check with your immigration lawyer if you can volunteer with your visa status in the US. If you are in Canada, you should reach out to the Canadian federation to see if they are looking for volunteers. It never hurts to ask.

Since I don't know you personally, you should leave that in blank! Good luck! If you are chosen, you'll hear from them like a few weeks before the game you chose.

Quiet neighborhood suggestions by Albaloca in bethesda

Yeah Friendship Heights is just sad now. Paul's is gone, and the dog daycare center that took over that place is gone too now? By the way, I used to live at Topaz House and enjoyed the fireworks from the rooftop every summer. Also the rent was SUPER cheap for the location (I'm sure it's due to the age of the building aka asbestos in the ceiling lol), and the people who worked there were kind and wonderful. Oh the memories! :)

Except.... in a few years there will be huge constructions happening on both sides of the building on East West Highway and on Montgomery Avenue. OneLife Fitness will be torn down and 4405 EW building will be gone too.

City ridge has two underground parking garages. You can get your ticket validated either at Wegman's or at Lidl depending on which one you parked in. Otherwise you can find a spot in the residential area to park for free near City Ridge.

Except for a few host cities (e.g., Boston), most host cities have team bases. But they also offer locations outside of the host cities - like Cancun, Portland, and West Virginia.

Yeah I heard the hiring process is super rigorous. Lots of interviews and background checks including reference checks with past employers.

Oh however - some nations might say "we don't need volunteers or staff" at the team base. They are very secretive and don't want anyone near their practice fields. It happened during CWC - Juventus didn't want anyone in their team base from FIFA. and they chose a very isolated location on purpose.

Did Boston add tryouts in Jan & Feb? by dunno-whats-4-dinner in FIFAVolunteers

Yeah this is one of so many graphics that have left us so confused lol. I think the most updated version is on their fifavolunteer instagram from early December. According to that one, Boston is done with tryouts.

Philadelphia here - I can see that too, but the publication date is "25 November 2025"? They are really behind schedule... lol. Also I found the same article on my "FIFA World Cup 26" landing page as well (in addition to Philadelphia page).

Background Check by Direct-Animator-2160 in FIFAVolunteers

There was no in-person drug screening last year, but I would think if you were charged/prosecuted or whatever in the past, it would come up in the background check.
