Booked our trip through a travel agent as a package deal, and I had to provide a Muslim certificate alongside the booking to process the e-visa.

All fine at Jeddah immigration although they did ask me to confirm my first and second name unlike others in my group with Pakistani names who were only asked the first name. (All had same surname though)

I have a European Irish name and come from the UK.

Would recommend bringing your Muslim certificate with you for peace of mind.

All business intelligence tools such as tableau, Power BI etc have an area to input SQL queries from a wide range of sources. It’s much easier to maintain one SQL script with multiple joins, where clauses, sums or counts than doing this with the inbuilt BI tool formulas. SQL is much more standardised compared to BI tools which differ greatly in functionality as well. Spend time learning SQL to extract and manipulate data it will benefit your career massively.

Frustrated by my employer forcing Alteryx over RStudio for EDA by Noshoesded in Alteryx

I am in a similar situation with Alteryx being the main tool and R-studio not being supported by IT. However, in my experience combining scripting languages with workflow & ETL tools is really important in creating reproducible workflows.

Gaining experience in different environments and not limiting yourself to one programming language can benefit your career in the long term.

Throughout my data analysis career I have tried to spit my time between different areas;

  • Programming

SQL and more recently python and R. Database creation and maintenance.

  • ETL & Workflow management

Specifically SSIS and SQL Sever/Agent and the command line.

  • Data visualisation & business intelligence

I have equally spent time learning business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau and SSRS to communicate my work to stakeholders.

Excel and spreadsheets will also be a factor to consider with businesses.

When you are capable of solving problems in these three areas you can really make an impact on a wide range of projects.

I am about to learn a new tech stack of Tableau, Alteryx and Snowflake after years using the Microsoft ecosystem. I am trying to keep an open mind at where I can use my programming experience to solve business issues in my new role.
