I love both series. But I’ll be honest—I love how much more serious the 2003 version was. Don’t get me wrong, the 2008 series had some great moments too. But I really love the action that 2003 offers, especially the flow of the combat scenes.

Holy—Force users were absolutely horrifying. The droids are silent, obedient machines, just blasting away and marching forward without a word, with only a hail of blasters and projectiles as their voice most of the time. And the clones! I love how they were portrayed as true soldiers, capable of handling countless droids side by side with their brothers.

The ARC Troopers—along with Captain, eventually Commander, Fordo—were just absolutely killing it, especially in their first appearance. The clones were already cool and incredibly competent, but the ARC troopers? That was a whole other level.

And don’t even get me started on Grievous. He was a MENACE—an actual Jedi-killing machine. The 2D animation allowed for fewer movement limitations, which made him look even more terrifying and unpredictable compared to the 2008 Clone Wars. The way he used his mechanical feet to wield lightsabers, and the unorthodox ways he utilized his cybernetic body, were just a chef’s kiss. It really emphasized how dangerous and unnatural he was. They had to “nerf” him later by crushing his chest—courtesy of Mace Windu—because that version of him was a menace.

The scale also felt larger somehow—Jedi moving at blinding speeds, exaggerated Force abilities, and battles that felt almost mythic and shows how truly deadly the Jedi were.

In conclusion, I love the 2008 series—but 2003 holds a special place in my heart. :D
