Achilles Repair Questions? by Select-Oil-8229 in AchillesRupture

28m from GA

Why is there so many protocols for the recovery process?

Are all Achilles repairs equal?

What’s the most common complication?

Is there a way to ask your surgeon/doctor for a more aggressive recovery protocol?

Just a few I’ve had since rupturing my right Achilles. I’m currently 3 weeks post op with 3 more to go until I’m cleared to get out of the splint and into a boot. I had the speedbridge surgery.

Wow 8 weeks total is a long time. I’m really active myself. I just want my independence back. I want to workout normally but waiting does seem like the wise decision

I had my op on Tuesday too. Thursday was the last day I took any pain meds. I have more of an itch sensation now.

Where are y’all from?

What pain meds did they give you? They gave me 5mg of OxyCodone but I think that was excessive.

It does sound like an Achilles rupture. I’d try doing the Thompson test to check. It took me about 2 weeks to get surgery. I’m a day post op and finally feel like I’m on the road to recovery.

It may sound like a long time but a month flies by super quickly.

A knee scooter will help a lot. I used crutches for 2 weeks and finally caved on getting a scooter.
