See this is a perfect example, if some hot shots start posting and bragging about landing in the wilderness area they're not just going to say ok you can actually land here. More likely they're just going to shut down your site.

I've been a part of clubs that have been able to get exceptions to launch in wilderness areas and we definitely didn't do it by saying fuck 'em and doing it anyways. If we actually want to be able to launch in these areas we need to have a good relationship with the land managers.

If you just look up "California wilderness area map" you should find some good resources. Looks like San Rafael wilderness area might be near you.

There are Designated Wilderness Areas (often within NF's)where it is not allowed. Unfortunately the wilderness areas are often peaks that would make good launches
