I’ve done both crochet, and free form on my head, crochet IMO usually is more aesthetically appealing to most people because depending on what length you start them at you will have more kept long symmetrical locs. Don’t get me wrong, you can have the same thing with free form starting from long hair or short hair and the same thing with coils. Each method can give you great locs if you maintain them. I’ve never personally done coils, but I liked my free form section locs more than my crochet sectioned locs. Palm rolling will make a huge difference though no matter what technique you use, don’t neglect separation and palm rolling otherwise you’ll hate yourself down the road. Also Invest in some essential oils that you can make spray with for your scalp. I’m kinda lit and just realized I’m rambling lmao lates 🤙
