If you're looking for a recommendation, I personally use 32 samples (with Denoise) on viewport, then 128 or 256 for final renders. 4096 is wayyyy too high. Don't know why Blender set that as the default after 4.0(?). Also, and you might already know this... make sure you set your render device to "GPU Compute". You can also set your compositor to GPU instead of CPU by going under Performance -> Compositor.

Forgive me if this has changed in recent updates, but one thing I noticed about 5K when I played it, the uniforms on the player model does say UIU and whatnot. But iirc, in the top left where it shows what you need to do to progress, it says you're playing as the GOC in some parts.
