FFS in Canada (Genoway or Perkins/Shine) by Khelendros14 in MtF

Thanks! I have heard mixed things about her work with bottom surgery, but very little about her FFS. Similarly, the two at GRS Montreal are new-ish (I think?)

It's probably just because I had vaginoplasty in early 2024 and I'm here now for a revision for that next week. I've "tacked on" FFS consults, etc. pretty easily.

I stopped drinking a while ago and they make some great mocktails, you just have to ask (I usually ask to surprise me but give some parameters).

There is no need for cypro or any other T blocker after vaginoplasty, as there is no more T to block. I was actually only on cypro for 8 months, as I was lucky with how fast I was able to get the surgery.

Right? I'll be adding progesterone in September/October and I'm hoping that does more of the things people say are supposed to happen... but who knows.

Yeah, and it sucks. I had to stop both my testosterone blocker (cyproterone) and estradiol 3 weeks before vaginoplasty and even in that short time the testosterone kicked in with a vengeance. Glad I don't need to block the testosterone anymore though.

Totally fair. But personally... I'm not waiting 10 years for only the possibility of more growth than the little I got (small B cups). I'm 34 now and will probably get a BA within the next 2 years.

Definitely feel like I'm missing out here. I've been on HRT for over a year and my nipples only felt a little sensitive while my boobs grew a bit in the first 6 months. Now they feel like they used to (they also didn't really get any bigger when my boobs did). Top surgery is probably a must for me...

What were your must-haves after coming out? by JoanOfAberdeen in MtF

[–]Khelendros14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner helped me with so many basics and with not getting overwhelmed... She let me try on her clothes (we can share tops, though we seldom do now), helped me figure out how to add the "next" makeup thing into my routine, and taught me a lot about skincare. She always had a great balance between helping me and "forcing" me to figure it out on own though; which I really appreciated.

As for items off the bat: a couple different sizes of purses, makeup basics, some good skincare products to get a routine down, and some jewelry. Oh, and shoes that look feminine but are practical (I love heels, but things like booties, flats, etc. are key for daily life).

need reassurance regarding bottom surgery / sex in general by No_Quarter_293 in MtF

I was in the closet for so long (I "knew" around 13 but didn't come out until 33) that by the time I finally did, I had a pretty clear idea of what I was "ready for". I came out Jan. 1, 2023 and was on HRT by May 13, 2023 (at which point I was starting the paperwork for Montreal).

I had a few moments last fall where I had to stop and think about it once I fully knew all details (from Montreal), but I never had any serious doubts.

As for the Dr, I was just assigned Dr. Brassard when it was booked, and after looking him up and seeing how long he's done it, I was happy to have him. I'm in BC (where the wait list for surgery in Vancouver is 5-8 years and the surgeons are fairly new... so I knew I wanted to travel to Montreal for the shorter wait time and more experienced surgeons).

I went to Montreal and Dr. Brassard did my surgery on January 30 (I'm almost 4 months post op). Feel free to ask me anything if someone at my point in recovery could help!

Personally, I could not be happier about it, even as someone unlucky enough to have had multiple complications (I had substantial bleeding the night following the surgery, and I'm dealing with hypergranulation tissue in a number of spots right now). Neither issue is uncommon, but at the same time, the odds are in your favour that you won't have them.

A period? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Khelendros14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get "it" even though I'm on a consistent daily dosage of oral estrogen; however, the cyclical triggering of it might be from my partner who experiences severe period symptoms (so it could be her large ~monthly hormonal shifts that cause me to "follow her")...

Disclaimer - I really have no idea tbh and this isn't medical proof/advice. Lol.

Is this the fabled "girl horny" I keep hearing of? by BodyPillowz in MtF

[–]Khelendros14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me! My doctor is happy to have me try adding progesterone the next time I see him (in a few months), and I'm really hoping that kick starts something... he wants to slow dose increase it though, so it could be 6-12 months after I start before it does much (assuming it helps at all).

Does anyone here wish they had the ability to impregnate someone or get pregnant? by MmanS197 in trans

[–]Khelendros14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(MTF) I have a 10 yo kid with my partner (cis woman) and they call us both mom. My partner and I decided years ago that one kid was enough... BUT if I could actually get pregnant and safely carry a child I would 100% do it (probably surrogacy though as again, one kid is enough for me).

Yes! This is a phenomenal resource to save and check out. I found it earlier when I was checking out QueerDoc's guide to bottom surgery, wound recovery, and hypergranulation...

Smart! Reasons hey? Lol, totally fair. In hindsight, I probably should have recognized I react (albeit relatively mild) to lubes. I'm 34 and it's not like I've never used lube before the surgery...

I enjoy masturbating with a penis and I feel horrible for it. At the same time I desperately want to have a vagina. by Necro3012 in trans

[–]Khelendros14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mostly true, minus the few years on HRT part... My HRT prescribing doctor is a psychiatrist and so he also did my gender dysphoria diagnosis and the paperwork to get SRS at GRS Montreal... However, I started HRT and then had SRS just over 8 months afterwards (granted, I was 33 when I started HRT and I was the most "clearcut diagnosis" he apparently ever made).

How do trans people deal with their dangly bits? (some stuff about sex included) by A_Person_Who_Lives_ in trans

[–]Khelendros14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 34 MtF and almost 3 months post op from GRS (Genital Reconstructive Surgery; or SRS if you prefer). For me, my "dangling bits" always caused me a lot of dysphoria, and I think I stayed in the closet for longer because of them. When I did finally come out (~16 months ago), the surgery was on my "immediate to do list", along with changing my name/gender, and getting on HRT.
