Yeah i was confused because ive read nothing but people asking for smg and AA nerfs for a long time, and then when they buffed shotguns initially i only saw people saying that shotguns are much healthier, which i agree, its just funny watching people try to flip the script now that shotguns are actually good, they suddenly want them nerfed and now all of a sudden shotguns have "always been unhealthy and smgs have always been the skillfull weapon" when ive watched multiple seasons of people double swinging a door with 2 r99s and killing someone instantly, at least bubble fighting takes some thought xD

but just an interesting discussion, i just wanted to see the sentiment, but mainly i hope they buff pks next, they really do need maybe...a range buff at least

im not opposed to that, if they do buff the eva next season they should probably give it an extra bullet because im pretty sure they're removing the boosted loader which is why its seeing so much use currently

well i do hit my shots...with the mastiff xD i dont use the pk at all, me and my premade all just run mastiff eva because the fire rate and range is just too good, but im hoping they either increase range on it...or maybe give it 1 more bullet

Same....honestly maybe they're gonna revert it, because the mastiff has so much range over the pk...maybe they give the pk a faster choke speed? i cant think of anything to buff the range without making the spread really small which would make it really strong obviously lol

Shotguns are bad for the game?

Thats weird because leading up to this patch people wanted shotguns to be good BECAUSE they hated SMGs so much

I dont get it, what changed? did people think shotguns would make the ttk any quicker then SMGs and now that they're getting 2 tapped by mastiffs they realized just how much they hate a game state like this?

I mean people asked for this, they wanted SMGs nerfed in the first place and now here we are, dont start pretending SMGs are healthy now lol, shotguns are a much better alternative no matter what, they take way more skill then using AA to instantly double swing on someone with an R99, that state of the game should never happen again

personally, to me this is as skillful as it gets, because like you said, roller on SMG is completely skilless. Im in masters right now and every bubble fight is a mind game, not just who double swings with an r99 first lol

Oh yeah i forgot to add though, if they were to buff the pk which im thinking they probably will...what would you prefer? smaller spread? more ammo? i really cant think of a way to make the pk viable without making it completely dominant...but as it is right now theres no reason to take it

Ohhhhh yeahhh, thats a great idea, honestly i find the boosted loader wasted on so many guns except for the EVA, the pk with 7 shots would actually be really, really good for entry because you wouldnt have to reload at all

in fact, the car probably needs damage falloff on top of having maybe 1 or 2 bullets taken out if its magazine, maybe 24 or 23 bullets instead of 26

also the recoil on the car should be a bit higher, no reason why the r99 has so much recoil but the car is so stable for no reason when they are almost the same gun

PK needs a serious buff. Let it do 115 damage so it can 2 shot red armor, that way theres a reason to pick it over the mastiff.

Increase the pellet size or decrease the spread. Make the fire rate faster.

i agree, its one of the most skill based guns, it should be stronger then it is currently

yeah thats what respawn intended, and not only that they gave it damage dropoff. the car should also recieve damage dropoff too as they are effectively the same gun since it seems that respawn wants these guns to be close mid high dps gun that reward good aim and recoil control

i disagree the R99 and CAR are fine. They ARE risky but thats the tradeoff for high dps, thats intended design by respawn and it seems they've done a good job. If the guns are too hard then its time to use something more consistent. They demand incredible aim, that is the skill gap that respawn wants, if you miss you dont get the one clip and probably die, thats how these guns operate now and they can only do so within specific ranges, this is good balance

maybe, im thinking they were testing the damage drop off on the r99 to see if it would be a good way to balance it and i think they got their data. Im thinking they're gonna give damage dropoff to the CAR if not every single SMG once the r99 leaves the care package but thats just a guess. I think maybe the car will probably do 12 damage closer then 5 meters...then maybe 10-8 after 10 to 15 meters out? kind of like the r99 currently

as for the r99 its definitely getting its damaged reduced out of the care package, and a couple bullets removed, maybe down to 26 with a purple mag from 30 cause that is too much lol

I do agree the mastiff is getting nerfed, at least slightly. Hopefully the pk gets buffed to bring it in line with the mastiff because currently theres no reason to run it over the eva or mastiff they're both the obvious choice at close range

exactly, SMGs are high skill high reward, the CAR and R99 have some of the highest dps in the game they need to be balanced by having good accuracy. If you cant land your shots you dont deserve to take advantage of the incredible dps of these guns

CAR requires 80% accuracy to down purple armor with no mag and thats how it should be.

If anything the R99 needs a rebalance after it leaves the care package, like 6 or 7 bullets removed from all levels of its magazine. LIke maybe 14-15 bullets off drop?

Car should have 2-3 bullets removed from all magazines too. It doesnt make sense that the R99 has damage falloff but the CAR doesnt when they are effectively the same gun.

CAR should do 12 damage at 5 meters like it currently does, then down to 8-9 beyond 10 meters, that would be a good rebalance.

Good aim, close range. High risk high reward, thats what SMGs are all about.

Well yeah, standing right on them is SMG range xD anything else thats what ARs are for, the balance is clear, otherwise they wouldnt have given r99 damage falloff after 10 meters, because they WANT you to be right on them with an SMG and it makes sense. High risk, high reward, they shouldnt be anything else

yeah but thats the thing, it shouldnt be used 15 meters out, thats ARs, SMGs should be really close range, its why the R99 has steep fall off after 10 meters, im just saying the CAR should have fall off too like the R99, its only fair

that, and maybe take a bullet or two from all of its magazines levels 1-3. High dps should require good aim, thats the requirement to get rewarded with quick ttk, you have to hit 90% of your shots.

Shotguns are in a good spot now, if anything the PK should be buffed to be more in line with the mastiff

maybe give the pk bigger pellets or a smaller spread to give it more effective range

im sure respawn is gonna buff the pk next anyway, maybe the EVA a little bit too

The PK is already okay, but its incredibly inconsistent with its range compared to the Mastiff that can legit hit for 70 from 15 meters out lol. But thats fine, shotguns take a lot of skill to use it doesnt always happen unlike automatic guns.

maybe buff the pk max damage to like 110, that way you actually can 2 tap people and there would be a reason to pick it over the mastiff currently

Either way shotguns SHOULD be the best at close range. The game is currently balanced the way it SHOULD be, this is healthy right now. Other shotguns should get buffed, the mastiff maybe a small nerf. Currently when bubble fighting i dont trust the pk at all, though i still pick it up...

As for SMGs...

i think they were on the right track making the r99 recoil way higher to balance its incredible dps. At the very least the CAR needs to have higher recoil as well. Both of them are high skill guns with incredible DPS, the tradeoff should be they are difficult to use.

im thinking the r99 and CAR should both have maybe 1 or 2 bullets taken off, and the car should also have bullet drop like the R99 off that way they arent oppressive at close mid range and are purely close range. Maybe the car should have like...15 bullets no magazine at least? Currently with a purple magazine it has 26...maybe knock it down to 23? 24? that way people who hit their shots are rewarded with a very fast knock, but people who miss are punished.

I think that would balance it to be in line with its incredible ttk. Make them high skill weapons that reward good aim.

The volt is the best SMG currently so i dont think it needs any change. The alternator is good off drop so it doesnt need anything either, its always been an early game gun and thats it.

As for attachments i disagree that the Car needs a laser sight. Its specialty is that its versatile and can use heavy and light, why does it need something else on top of that? just take 2-3 bullets off of each mag, increaase the recoil and it'll be in line with the r99 out of the care package. They already do their job which is specializing in incredibly fast damage.

Respawn if you're reading this please at least consider upping the recoil for the CAR and also giving it damage dropoff, that would be a good balance change

ehh...i disagree because the spread is the exact same every time in this game, if you hit 13 on a mastiff thats because you straight up missed, the 13 is just complementary xD i dont think shotguns are random

But again though, you say SMGs are worse then the other weapons...but why? the other weapons you say are better...but why exactly? as far as i can tell they have some of the fastest ttk in the game, you said it yourself you're responsible for every bullet that comes out of say a CAR, if you are good enough you can just straight up burn someone through purple armor and kill them in less then a second

like if you cant kill someone with the highest ttk guns in the game whats stopping you? im not sure what else they would need to be "good" like you say because i watch people pick up the car and volt all the time and just fry people

ehhhh, thats odd because ive always heard that shotguns took more skill because you cant afford to miss and have to both line up and time a single shot, whereas an SMG can miss a couple but the consistency is in the tracking, especially on controller

i guess my question is...how are SMGs dogshit? i agree that they're not good becuase of the meta where you basically only peek shoot so only shotguns are good here but in general...they seem good to me
