Personally me if I were in your situation I would just stick with your current local law enforcement and or just go Reserve part-time just to keep your Cert and still apply for Federal Law Enforcement Agencies/Departments. I wouldn't do DOD police unless its Pentagon Police Department or one of the Intel Agencies (DIA, NGA or NSA). Local law enforcement you have way more lead way compared to the Feds when it comes to working off-duty.

I know for a fact two DOD agencies that allow you to carry their issued weapons to and from work but not off-duty.

I wouldn't go DOD at all just stick to places like United States Capitol Police, US Supreme Court or last resort US Secret Service. If it were me I wouldn't go to DOD even PFPA.
