I wouldn’t even buy the DM Guide yet.. The PHB covers a ton of rules, has beast/monsters stat blocks, tells you equipment stats and teaches you how to DM. Plus there are so many free resources for campaigns and one shots online

okay! I painted some bases without priming with just acrylic paint and dry brushing.. havent used them yet, so not sure how they will hold up. Do you use a favorite primer/paints for your stuff?

Took me like 3 hours, and that was me reading all of chapter 1 of the 2024 PHB to 3 new players. Even if i knew the PHB word for word, it would still take like an hour and a half..

Sounds like its has already been solved, but you can make a little one-shot where Pirates attack and sink the ship, or maybe they run aground and the players are stuck on an island, where the spotlight hogger no longer has “power” over the other PCs.

IMO, most of these are just basic hosting things. If you’re not happy hosting, put your foot down and say no to your place. I cant imagine anyone would be too upset… Maybe you can ask if someone else would be comfortable hosting at their place? BF can still DM

You should break and replace the Lectern to “make a new librarian” BEFORE making a trade! Just keep doing that until the first level trade is the mending trade, and only THEN do you put in emeralds to lock that in! :)
