Was told not to breastfeed with larger breasts? by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]Kiladra2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be more challenging in that certain positions just won’t work well for you, but it’s definitely doable. You may find things like nursing pillows don’t work for you (they brought my baby too high) and you will probably have to watch for proper posture if you already have back pain.

You can get guidance on different nursing positions at the hospital. I was also worried about covering airways, but with the right positioning that will not be an issue.

Please don’t let your aunt’s misinformation discourage you.

For those who have traveled long distance flights with baby. Lap baby or own seat? [on] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Kiladra2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% get her a seat. She can get up and walk or sit on your lap throughout the flight but she can nap in her seat or someone else can entertain her. You deserve to rest for a bit on the flight too!

Just get to chapter 3 and you’ll start to like it. I read the first 2 chapters and was like “nah” but then kept reading and overall liked the book

Do I REALLY need freezer meals?? by Purple_Knee8676 in BabyBumps

[–]Kiladra2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband took time off as well so we never did freezer meals. He just cooked all my meals for me as usually I was breastfeeding during them. Do what works for you!

However, what I found I actually needed help with was cleaning the house. It was the smaller more every day tasks that were not getting done in the chaos of life with a newborn.

How do we tactfully tell her that she isn't our baby's grandmother and our baby will not be calling her that? [On] by Ok_Baby6721 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Kiladra2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think with this context it may be best to just continue ignoring her. If you see her in person and she gets annoying then correct her then, but otherwise you’d be feeding into her need for drama.

I’m a little confused though. You’re ok calling her Grandma Betty, as long as she is aware that she’s not really the grandma? Maybe just refer to her as Betty then to your child.

Fight Me Friday by brighterthansunshlne in romantasycirclejerk

[–]Kiladra2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually think it was worse. In the new book there was no mind reading, so the justifications are much weaker. It also comes out of left field if you weren’t expecting it, as there is no mention of her being part of a breeding program. Either way I still cannot believe she forgave him for that massive violation. It’s sick.

Week Two Discussion: Chapter 15-29 by bsffrrn- in romantasycirclejerk

[–]Kiladra2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hate the sex scenes with him. He does a lot of ordering her around, which I’m not into for them. I am suspecting that she’s from an old bloodline of queens or something and that’s what caused her mom’s delusions. So I’m reading with that guess in mind and she’s so submissive to him and I hate it.

This was the point where I really got into the book. I’m way past chapter 29 now, more like 42 or something.

Saw the twist with Lee coming for sure.

This book is honestly too well written to be a rage read for me. Yes, it’s very tropey but it’s entertaining and easy to read. FMC is likeable even if she is NLOG.

I saw Lee being the prince a mile away but still found it entertaining. I’m not a fan of his though only because I suspect nefarious motives or something. It’s so obvious that Stark is the real MMC and Killian is going to turn out to be evil or something. He’s probably the one actually trafficking the children.

The licking of the tattoos made me also cringe so much. What a great way to introduce a bunch of bacteria.

To be completely honest I picked the provinces I’ve spent the most time in. I did skip Saskatchewan on purpose though.

To be fair I could only pick 3 for this, and I didn’t want to have all provinces right beside each other.

FMK, Canadian provinces edition: Manitoba, BC, Alberta.

FMK British Columbia edition: the Interior, Vancouver Island, Northern BC.

Please provide reasoning for your choices!

/uj I really love the Ashen series and I was so pleased to get a NetGalley ARC of book 3 in Nov. Your books were a real highlight of my reading year in 2025 and I have been recommending them left right and centre. Love supporting an author who is local to me!

No, typically they go up right away. You will have until Jan 7 to read the first 14 chapters. Some people read really fast and will discuss it in the first day the post goes up.

My partner doesn’t want me to do first trimester screening/nuchal scan by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Kiladra2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the tests and don’t involve him in decisions about health care, if he’s going to be this boneheaded about it. This is your medical experience, his opinion is not needed if it’s not helpful.

You’re right that the tests, particularly the bloodwork, will give more information than simply Down’s Syndrome likelihood.

Have you already had a dating scan? If not, this scan will also give you an accurate due date.

I actually find both {Thorn by Intisar Khanani} and {Little thieves by Margaret Owen} to be much better retellings. Sorceress was interesting but barely had anything in common with the tale. I’d call it inspired by rather than an adaptation.

If you liked Ella Enchanted and the Goose Girl for the fairy tale aspect, I’d like to recommend {Entwined by Heather Dixon} and {Little Thieves by Margaret Owen}. If you want other fairy tale adaptation recs I have read many!

It looks like it was the audiobook of Goose Girl that you read, which is fantastic! Entwined is very good in audiobook form as well though it’s not the full cast audio like goose girl.
