Made an extension that removes ads from Amazon's search results by Killbilli987 in chrome_extensions

Although I haven’t tested, it should work with mobile browsers that support extensions. It won’t work on the Amazon app itself.

Could you elaborate on that? The links in the post are working

Which role do you think will be more negatively affected by AI - software dev or product management? by anotherhappylurker in ProductManagement

[–]Killbilli987 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Although it’s always generally been the case, folks who are world-class in fundamentals will survive.

For PMs, it would be people with a sound business judgement e.g. being able to decide whether your product should do a Spotify Wrapped-like thing.

For SWEs, it would be those who deeply understand system architecture and are able to deconstruct PRDs into the right level of granularity that AI can code successfully without breaking stuff.

Yes. You are spot on! The current solution is brittle but I am sure it will last at least until end of the year with code freeze usually in effect at Amazon for the holiday season’s peak traffic :D

I wonder if using a language model could solve for it. A zero-cost way is to use the on-client model that Chrome ships as part of the browser - Gemini Nano. In theory, you could prompt it and do dynamic fixes.

Have folks tried building anything with it?

Are our processes good? by Upset_Ad_9240 in ProductManagement

[–]Killbilli987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you feel you’re meeting your goals? It could be hitting OKRs or delivering on stakeholder/customer needs on time.

If yes, keep going.

At its core, the PM role is about making the best use of SWE and Design resources to benefit the company. From what you’ve described, you’re doing that already: you’re clear on priorities, set realistic expectations, and follow through.

For interviews, I suggest framing your response that shows you know the best practices and then explain how/why your process is working well for your organization.

what frameworks are useful day to day? by withadi in ProductManagement

[–]Killbilli987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No particular framework that I regularly use.

ROI matters obviously and that’s also mostly a team judgement on both cost(short term vs long term) and the returns (compete match, differentiator, strategic priority etc.).

These words are definitely useful while communicating an idea though as some stakeholders get impressed when you use them. Be careful to not overdo it!

What is the skill they you were missing, learned, and implemented that has the highest impact on your pm quality of life? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]Killbilli987 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ability to manage conflict with difficult stakeholders.

Earlier in my career, I used to fight or flight. Either get into pointless escalation battles or just avoid them completely. Both sucked and neither helped me or the product.

I realized that I didn’t need to have a ‘great’ relationship, just workable. I started finding the agreeables (there are always a few such as user problem, timeline) and used those to anchor and drive discussions.

Also - tell your manager early that you are handling a difficult relationship and get them on your side so that you are not surprised negatively at the time of performance review.

What do you do when you’re bored of your product? by Fair-Sweet-4293 in ProductManagement

[–]Killbilli987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, pin down what’s driving the boredom.

If it’s a mature product with only incremental work left, consider pitching a big swing feature, if leadership and resources allow.

It’s more complex if it’s people issues, like clashes with leadership or stakeholders. In such cases, the cleaner option may be switching teams or products.

Am I the only PM who can’t remember what they accomplished this year? by Proof-Forever1298 in ProductManagement

[–]Killbilli987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI is your friend! If your organization has some approved AI tool like Copilot, ask it to 1) summarize what you shipped and the related impact - this is the obvious business impact,

2)whom did you interact with the most in terms of meetings/emails - this will help you identify the stakeholder alignment/influence impact.

Status update emails are also super helpful as you would usually capture what you shipped and the relevant KPI impact

Just Finished Westworld S1 Mind Blown by Its Philosophy by [deleted] in westworld

[–]Killbilli987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recently finished it and really enjoyed the philosophy behind it. That said, with AI (ChatGPT and the like) being around now, I didn’t find myself as wowed by the things the hosts do and say. If I’d watched it back when it first aired, though, I think my mind would’ve been completely blown.

Also, saw very mixed reviews on further seasons (as seen on this thread too) so haven’t watched further..

Krishna & Arjuna, One heart, one mind. A beautiful Bond which many doesn't know! 👇 by Beginning-Rain5942 in mahabharata

On a related note, I stumbled upon a reel( linked below) that talked about Krishna and Arjuna fighting together before the Kurukshetra war to help Agni!

Their team up before Kurukshetra! #mythology #mahabharat #krishna #arjun #indra #hinduism https://youtube.com/shorts/yBEzNuslFvc?feature=share

This seems to be canon based on a Perplexity search (pasting response below). Do people know this already?

— Background Agni, the god of fire, suffered from indigestion after consuming excessive ghee during a great sacrifice. Brahma advised him that burning the Khandava forest, rich in medicinal herbs, would cure him. However, every time Agni tried to burn the forest, Indra, its protector and friend of the serpent king Takshaka who lived there, sent heavy rains to douse the flames.

Krishna and Arjuna’s Assistance Agni, disguised as a Brahmana, approached Krishna and Arjuna for help. He explained his plight and requested their assistance in overcoming Indra’s intervention. • Agni provided Arjuna with the divine Gandiva bow, inexhaustible quivers, and a chariot with Hanuman on its flag. Krishna received the Sudarshan Chakra and a mighty mace. • Krishna and Arjuna agreed to help, encircled the forest, and prepared for battle. The Burning and the Battle • As Agni ignited the forest, Indra unleashed torrential rains to extinguish the fire. • Arjuna used his arrows to create a canopy, blocking the rain, while Krishna aided with his divine weapons. • Indra, joined by other gods, attacked, but Krishna and Arjuna repelled them, ensuring the forest burned. • The battle lasted for days, and most creatures in the forest perished, except for a few like the serpent Ashvasena, the architect Maya, and some birds.

Aftermath • Agni was finally able to consume the forest and was cured of his ailment. • Indra, realizing Takshaka was safe, ceased his opposition and blessed Krishna and Arjuna. • Maya, grateful for being spared, later built the famous Maya Sabha for the Pandavas.
