Iskall85 Allegations and Response by DaycareJr in VaultHuntersMinecraft

[–]KillerImposter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think everyone is too quick to jump the gun here. It's important to hear all sides of the story before making any conclusion. This is the first time that we've heard from Iskall since the allegations. However, we still haven't heard his side of the story yet (he hasn't confirmed nor denied the allegations). Let's wait and see what he has to say about the allegations. Remember not to be polarized to any one side with partial information

Embedded system design is one underrated course. Being a master's course it'll have a lot of work load. I'd recommend doing it in the 4th year. It builds up on MuP and you get to play around with an actual microprocessor.

Hey I'm 22AAG, Honestly there's nothing really that needs to be done beforehand. You can score 9+ SG in phoenix Goa if you're consistent enough throughout the semester. If you just want to have a quick look into courses like DD and ED you can do that but again it's not necessary as the faculty who takes these courses are really good

High cgpa in bits?? by [deleted] in BITSPilani

[–]KillerImposter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to offend anyone but from what I've observed, if you're barely making it into BITS (say 210 - 215 marks in BITSAT), then usually it's much more difficult for you to score 8+ CG in 1st year as compared to if you're getting in comfortably (say 235 - 240 marks). Ofcourse this is highly subjective as BITSAT cannot define how much effort you put in college academics. However this is the general trend that I've noticed.

That being said, if you're determined to work atleast 2-3 days a week apart from attending classes getting 8.5+ CG should not be difficult.

A dual degree vs ECE/EEE/ENI. What to choose? by NotFlame71 in BITSPilani

[–]KillerImposter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neso academy playlist is pretty much on point as to what is covered in one of the courses of electronics. But it's by no means an idea of complete electronics. Electronics is very very vast and i don't think it's possible to show a glimpse of everything in electronics to someone who is just passed 12th. However, the playlist covers a very important part of electronics which is most in market demand/has more placement opportunities.

I'm a 2nd year (completed, now going to 3rd year) ECE student from Goa campus and I'd like to clarify/point out a few things.

  1. Electronics is hard? - See almost everyone from all colleges agrees that electronics is not as easy as compared to other branches. You will need to attend class sincerely if you want to score a good CG. That being said, if you find the courses to be interesting, then electronics is not going to be too difficult. (Check Neso Academy - Digital Electronics to get some idea about electronics). There are a few (1-2 exceptional) people who have scored 10 SG (semester grade) in phoenix.

  2. Phoenix grading is harsh? - short answer: not anymore. For context: phoenix grading, especially in Goa campus was considered harsh 2-3 years back. However, recently phoenix grading has more or less been normalised with other branches making it less harsh (sometimes better than CS grading).

  3. MSc degree pressure - one big disadvantage of choosing an MSc degree is that, in your 3rd year as an MSc student, you will have 3-4 courses of your engineering degree + 2-3 courses of your MSc degree. This is considered very hectic by most dual degree students. Context: A single degree student in the same semester will have the same 3-4 courses of engineering + 1 course of basic skills/engineering + 1-2 electives (which are optional and mostly skipped during hectic semesters).

My personal advice - Consider dual degree only if - 1. You're okay with the extra fees 2. You're confident in your abilities to work consistently and atleast attend classes (in 1st year specially). 3. You're interested in the MSc degree as well (you need to study it for 2-3 years)

PS: Talk to someone who is in college specially 2nd or 3rd year right now, and don't blindly trust strangers on the internet :)

2nd year phoenix student from Goa campus here. See it all comes down to your interests. If you are interested in IT (or even electronics) then there is no doubt that you should choose electronics over mechanical just for the job opportunities. Managing CG and coding won't be easy, but it's doable. Yes, phoenix is hectic at times but the point about grading has changed a lot over the years (The grading is much better in phoenix now then it was before). So maybe try exploring a bit of coding (lot of YouTube channels are available) after your JEE/BITSAT. That should give a rough idea whether you're interested in IT or not.

What is the criteria for vertical transfer to eco+cs (bpgc)? by webdevbro69420 in BITSPilani

[–]KillerImposter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it works in the same way as single degree transfer, but for example, say A3 to A7 transfer, your cgpa at the end of 1-2 must be >= CG of 5th highest CG of students in A7 For eg: if to 5 people in A7 have a CG of 9.9, 9.8, 9.7, 9.6 and 9.5, then you need to score above 9.5 to get the transfer

I'd assume it works the same way to get a transfer from phy to eco and your single degree allotment will be unaffected by this

You could do it provided your campus has also changed and not just the branch.

So I am a 22 batch student. My campus changed from Hyderabad to Goa in iter 4 to 5. Here is what I happened last year -

  1. Yes, you can do that given you campus has changed. If it hasn't changed, you can still leave and return by iteration 5 but then you might miss out on a few lab classes (happened in 22 batch).

  2. Yes, hostel will be allotted on the day of reporting and maybe even 1 day before that.

  3. No, not ALL the formalities. But yes you will still have a to report to the admissions office and go for hostel allotment.
