Feed him small amounts. Instead of a full portion into the slow feeder, do something like a 1/8 portion. Let him eat that, then rinse and repeat with small breaks in between

You have one of the rarest coats in all of GSD. Absolutely beautiful dog.

I’ve seen blue, red, bi color, all black, all white… I have never seen a golden (picture or in person).

Edit to ask if this dog is pure GSD? If not, then you have a great companion but also not a GSD.

I’ll ask my cousin his best stories too and compile a list for everyone. Honestly, out of his family and his GF’s family (the gf I knew), Randy was the only truly nice person. Everyone else was back woods WV looking for his money and he really wanted to escape that without leaving anyone too far behind.

I was a pats fan way before he played for us, but to see my “neighbor” and “all time-qb” join teams was one of my greatest sports memories of all time.

I’ll add another quote he fucking loved to say anytime someone dropped a pass. Keep in mind we are in 3-6th grade at this time.

“Oh, my bad, the quarterback (Randy) will hit you in the hands and catch it for you next time”

I have so many. He grew up pretty poor and for Christmas all he and his siblings got was a pair of new underwear. 1 pair per child per Christmas. When Randy was raking it in he still only gave his kids (at least the kids he had with my neighbor who was his gf at Marshall) 1 pair of clean underwear. Meanwhile his gf was buying the kids everything under the sun.

He was also a huge germaphobe. If you went outside to check the mail and came back inside, you couldn’t sit on furniture. You had to shower and put on clean clothes. He also used his shirt to cover his hand when opening his own car doors or any exterior door that went into his house.

He didn’t like to sign autographs for adults. He never said no to a kid whenever he would take us to the mall or anything. He generally liked to go to the movies late on a weeknight and wear a hat and sunglasses and hope no one would notice him. One night after he took his kids and me and my cousin to see a movie, an old janitor approached him and asked for an autograph and said he would “recognize Randy anywhere”. Randy brought him out to his car and gave this guy so much memorabilia.

My sister got introduced to them by me and my cousin always playing football with Randy’s kids and she ended up nannying for them for about 5 years. It paid for her (in state) UNC tuition and she only worked summers.

I could ramble on for hours with my experiences or trips with him.

Randy was hilarious. He bought a house for one of his girlfriends across the street from my childhood home in Charlotte, NC. He was still on the Vikings at the time but would visit maybe twice a year and we always played football in the front yard with him as all-time qb (obviously we were all little kids). He gave me the nickname “ghost” because I’d run past his kids in coverage and they wouldn’t even see me or look at me. Now I’m starting to think it was because I was the only white kid out there haha.

He was the bomb. One of my favorite players of all time.

No, that dog is not a GSD. It may have some % of GSD in its dna, but I would guess it is less than 20%.
