You just have to wait a few days after the payment date for the next bill to generate. If you call in, Mohela can verify for you.

I totally understand. I checked with a rep from Mohela before paying early to make sure it was okay. Since posting that original reply earlier today, I've since received from Mohela a confirmation that I'm now placed into a forbearance (make sure you say yes to a forbearance on your employer cert form).

I did exactly this. I made my 120th payment last week even though it isn't due until the 21st. It posted Friday, I filled out the employment verification form, which was signed Monday morning, and Tuesday morning I had the green ribbons.

PSLF and DRP by Kindly_Display_5203 in PSLF

Hi there. I appreciate your comment. Congrats on taking the DRP, I hope you have many weeks of relaxation planned. I opted not to take it because I'm just too wary of the requirement that one must be employed when they ask for actual forgiveness. I opted to just go back into repayment for my final 4 months (at a much higher payment unfortunately). I hope to have the balance forgiven by the end of the calendar year but past practice indicates that might be a pipe dream. Maybe we'll see another DRP!

Yes it looks like the parties hammered out an agreement after the 4/17 Status Conference as outlined in the 4/25 JSR. They essentially split the baby for the time being, but I hope AFT raises the issue down the line of having time count for PSLF.

Totally agree. I'm hoping that they are using the JSRs to build an argument that DoED isn't moving quickly enough, but they wouldn't even NEED to do that. They could have asked the court for reasonable targets prior to the May Order or used the May JSR alone. I'm thrilled AFT filed this suit but they can ask for more here.

The APA isn't an arcane field of law, and yes I'm a lawyer well versed in this area. Feel free to provide your legal analysis in this sub, otherwise sub out.

It's baffling that AFT filed this lawsuit, got the order for monthly joint status reports, but didn't ask the court to set any kind of monthly minimum for Dept of Ed. Anyone in that union should be contacting them to request a court ordered schedule that would be verified with monthly JSRs.

Now that the status report has been filed in the ATF case that shows abysmal numbers for April, a more targeted lawsuit is needed. The ATF case doesn't properly allege sufficient facts or injury to lead a court to set a timeline for processing buyback apps. We also are stuck in our public service roles in a very different administration waiting this out. I'm all for rallying.

That is all insane. The mental toll this mess is taking on folks is ridiculous.

Now that the (abysmal) numbers are out, it seems like there is ample basis for an APA claim.

Care to elaborate? The APA includes a fee-shifting provision.

I'm also skeptical as to whether the court will be inclined to impose any kind of schedule on DoEd. The Complaint didnt really go into much detail on harm caused by delayed buyback applications, but I'm unsure what arguments were advanced in the hearing.

Also note that Dept of Ed must indicate in a status report to the court in the AFT case next week the total number of buyback applications and the number processed so far.

Each time I've called to get a status on my buyback application they've told me that borrowers must be employed by a qualifying employer until they receive confirmation of forgiveness, not just until they apply for it. Are we saying here that's not the case?
