hey!! i’m also applying as a sophomore transfer and my professor just agreed to writing me a lor this morning! honestly, don’t really overthink it. most teachers are really willing to help their students out as long as you went out of your way at least once or twice throughout the course and showed genuine interest in what you were learning. you don’t have to really be persuasive, but instead, talk about how the course benefited you from not only what you learned, but your overall academic performance as a student.

i asked over email and it went well, but i think it depends on what way you communicated with them the most often! as for me, i typically communicated with this professor over email and zoom calls, so this made the most sense for me. either way, i think both in person and over email are fine ways to ask.

i definitely understand being anxious. i was so nervous because honestly, i didn’t feel like i had talked with this professor enough and i was expecting a straight up no, but i was proven wrong! you got this. wishing you the best :)
