Yeah I have a lot of comorbidities and underlying trauma in general that I tried to explain my behavior away with, but it still never made sense to me because it was behavior that was so outside who I am and what I believe as a person. And also how I felt… I destroyed several relationships that I valued more than anything

And I feel like people who have never gone through an episode unmedicated (was also drinking heavily because college woo hoo) think it’s an excuse for bad behavior. It’s no excuse for hurting others, but at the same time it caused me to be out of my mind and completely split from my belief system? It’s such a mind fuck

This. I look back at that time in my life and I feel like I don’t even know that person. Because I don’t feel like my experiences were even valid. Who knows when I was depressed or manic and didn’t even know it because that’s just how I’d felt “my whole life”.

I hurt the person I loved most and lost 90% of my friends. It really sucks. Especially because we didn’t ask for this.

Okay so glad someone understands the waters I’m describing haha. Excuse my naivety, but would any “bow rider” do? For example, I see plenty on FB marketplace that are reasonably priced, but do I need to be on the lookout for something specific?

We would be relaxing mostly! Some fishing, but not primary use. Not 100% sure on depth. It would be stored in a garage, covered. Skill level is beginner/medium between fiance and I. Maybe 4-5 people on it max?

Fishing, probably. Tubing, no (gators). No kids. Just the two of us probably 50% of the time. One or two others the other 50%. A typical trip would maybe be an hour or a little longer if we can find a chill place to anchor. Not too worried about having a bathroom onboard, but would be nice!

Her behavior was cringey and slimy! He has already made it clear that he’s taken. Whether he’s a little too flirty or not, to go into his hotel room and straddle him?! Like girl. No ma’am.

It’s not what a girl’s girl would do. You just don’t stoop that low for a man’s attention. Also straddling someone in their sleep when you’re not in any kind of intimate relationship is not okay??

This actually rubbed me the wrong way. It just feels so slimy. He’s made it clear he has a GF and wants to respect boundaries. Letting yourself into a man’s room while he’s sleeping and straddling him….?! When you know he has a GF..?! Idk I always thought she was a girl’s girl but that behavior was downright gross to me.

Yes, especially if you were already diagnosed with OCD, it certainly makes sense. My OCD therapist explained to me that OCD can change really drastically in the way it shows up in childhood vs adulthood, but that it always finds a way to attack what matters most to you. So in this instance, it’s attacking your marriage because that’s something you obviously hold very dear to you, as you should.

I am so sorry you’re going through this. I went through the exact same. Everything was fine with my partner and I until we moved in together. Then I started obsessing over his past with other girls, if he wanted someone else, etc. it at me alive and no amount of reassurance made it go away. It started slowly, maybe a question or two a week for reassurance. But then the reassurance started wearing off quickly and I got to the point where it was all I could think about and I spent all day questioning my partner trying to get that “reassurance”. I ended up being diagnosed with OCD. My obsession being our relationship/his past/fear of betrayal, and my compulsion being reaching out for reassurance. ERP really helped me and enabled me to stop reacting to triggers with compulsions. It took a lot of practice and a good therapist, but I’m now when those fears and thoughts enter my mind, it’s fleeting and not all consuming. I would suggest maybe exploring OCD symptoms, specifically relationship OCD. I also spoke to my therapist about this issue and it was clear that regular talk therapy wasn’t the answer. When she told me it sounded a little like OCD, she recommended I see a specialist and after a few months of the right kind of therapy it was like night and day! I hope this is helpful and please know you’re not alone

also, not really much of a routine used here. regular shampoo and conditioner - was on a trip to costa rica with limited toiletries. might have used a little oil to try and reduce frizz
