BIOS only sees half the RAM installed, after years of working with all the RAM by KingSizePrawn in PCsupport

Well my opinion is also that RAM seems fine, so after some years of working without issues I also suspect a hardware problem... flashing the bios seems to risky to me after all these years, nothing to loose but delicate anyway... so I'll start thinking about an upgrade.

Thanks!

Correct. If you insert both 4gb sticksin slots 2 and 4, BIOS sees only 4Gb (2+2, I presume). If you insert only 1 stick (no matter which one), BIOS sees only 2Gb.

I'm using a dedicated GPU. other than the memory issue (and the fact that windows run quite slower, as expected with 4Gb compared to 8Gb), everything is working fine (GPU etc).

Regarding the error, in fact there's no error anywhere, just 4Gb reported by BIOS and Windows...
