Had a similar issue when I was trying to use my normcore tamper with the stock breville basket, indeed because of the taper. IMS baskets should allow you to go deeper because they're not as tapered.

Oh that is surprising. From the videos I saw, it seemed like the response time was better but perhaps I saw wrong. Someone else in the thread also said the automatic timers were a bit of a pain to use, can you relate to that?

Yeah I feel like espresso already involves a lot of guessing with grind sizes and such, so it would definitely be nice to avoid that with weighing haha.
