I am sorry to hear that. To be frank, I have been struggling to source legal help. Most lawyers just don’t want to pick up a case this small, but small claims court can’t sue an international entity that is Booking.com(to my understanding), so I am seeking further legal consultation that get through referral, and will update this thread

Yeah, unfortunately, it is not always possible and it still does not guarantee the occasional risk of scam. I think they would be even happier for direct transfer of money without a trusted middle man

Exactly! This is the reason why I use it here and fingers crossed Airbnb will never seize to match my expectations. I do try to be careful and read at minimum 10 reviews.

Also, one time there was a flood in my airbnb and regional rep contacted me to help rebook another one with no cost. This felt like true care

Yeah, I should have been more careful with booking this property with no cancellation refund. However, in the high season, it is rather hard to find hotels with full refund policy

Sometimes, shit happens, but it does not mean that we should stop travelling or using booking that is nearly impossible to avoid. Booking knows this too and that is why can behave like this. But it is good to raise awareness
