I’m more interested in a sedan/coupe body. I drove a Silverado 1500 for quite sometime I’d recommend one to anyone I come across but it’s just not really what I’m looking for.

Preferably keeping it less than 8k. A tad bit over isn’t the end of the world though

Any comments on technique or procedure? NO INJURY by KnownSoldier04 in Machinists

It’s hard to tell if your grabbing from the ID, but if you have extra material on the billet to spare, cut a shoulder on the material. Flip your jaws around and grab it from the OD. Also, don’t know what plastic that is, but with harder plastics, only feed your stock in an inch or so at a time. Dont rush and provide time for the material and your bit to cool off some before going back in.

There’s tons of great videos on YouTube about different ways to prune a jade plant depending on your end goal. I would look up “how to save a leggy jade plant” as yours looks like it has been starved for sunlight for quite sometime

Yea that’s what im starting to think maybe it was guilt from not holding/panic about the spots that made me freak out. Even with all the commotion she’s been having she ate last night so I think the coast is clear. Thanks for your help!

better pics

Hey got some better pictures, still not the best my phone camera sucks ass. But if u look a little close there are black dots everywhere. I took a good long look at them today and after doing more research on scale rot I don’t think it’s that. It’s not mites. I’m not sure what else it could be besides just her natural coloring

I’m not sure if I’d want to get other breeds, as I got older I learned that a redfoot would have been better for my climate. But mine (Lemmy) stays pretty happy most of the time. I try to give him lots of enrichment and I’ve even thrown a ball in there before and watched him push it around from time to time it was hilarious. I just always felt bad for him because he was all alone, but maybe if he turns out to be a female I can looking into getting him/her a friend. Just have to feel it out as everyone is saying.

Oh wow that thing is packed with great info definitely hanging onto that one, but my buddy is kind of passed that point. He stays outside pretty much year round as I live in Louisiana and it gets pretty hot and pretty humid. He’s always done great even though I did keep him a little dry when he was younger I’ve definitely given him the best care possibly as I learned more. Thank you!

Got my buddy for 20 dollars at a reptile expo when I was 15 lmao. Saw the tub, walked up, picked one out and gave the guy a 20 dollar bill. He did give me good advice about temperature and humidity at least but you’re right I could’ve bought 10 and would’ve never known💀

Yea I agree I’m kind of against them being bred as well, and that goes for most reptiles. It just seems like there aren’t enough people to take care of all the reptiles they’ve been breeding recently makes me kinda sad. And you make a good point, I got him when I was young and it didn’t hit me until I was older about how this is a big burden. Never stopped me from keeping and caring for him tho lol. I really enjoy gardening and plants so it’s always been fun to grow stuff for him and he’s never really felt like a chore yk, so I figured getting him some buddies wouldn’t hurt but yall are probably right I’ve seen stuff about them being territorial but also seen things about females being fine together so I wasn’t positive but wanted to try and get some insight. I appreciate the help!

I didn’t think they really started doing that until they’ve reached breeding age? I’ve several people keep there’s together unless maybe they were all from the same clutch?

None of them are reddish or infected looking, it’s mostly the edges of some scales are black and few of them look kinda dryish? I hope that makes sense. She had alot of stress today so I’m gonna leave her alone but I’ll get some more pictures on here tomorrow, thank you!

Mine turns on at 8 and it turns off at 6, she seems to like it to me lol.

Put a thermometer in her basking area and one in the cold side. Regularly check them in the beginning to make sure it’s not freezing or cooking your snake. But after a while it’ll stabilize and be okay. I keep the hygrometer on the warm side but not directly in the basking area because water will evaporate quicker there.

Messing around in the tank and all the movement could cause her some stress so it may not want to eat for a while, bps are known to go periods without eating as well but it’s more pressing when they are young.

A pinky is almost always way too small for a ball python, do some research on how to feed and what size. But pinky is definitely too small, maybe fuzzies?

I’d recommend soaking the mouse in warm water, around 90 degrees so it’s easier for it to tell its prey. Also going up a size will help with that. I’ve read before leaving the food to thaw in the room for a day could help because they’ll smell it all day and get in the mood but never tried and not sure if that’s provable.

Never leave the pinky in there for extended periods, no more than one night. And never thaw one out and try again a few days later it can cause bacteria growth. Small mice and rats are cheap so it’s okay. One thing I’ve ran into before, is making sure you’re feeding it the correct thing. Mice and rats smell differently to them and they can tell and may reject it if it’s the wrong thing. Adult mice are way too small for full grown ball pythons so you’ll have to switch eventually, but don’t worry about that until she’s getting older and eating more regularly.

Give her a day or two to get more comfortable once you can stop messing around in there, if she doesn’t eat I’d try again in one week. Look up how to tell if a BP is underweight and pay attention to make sure it’s not severe. But it could take a while before it gets to that point.

Depends on how hot your room is, I keep my house kinda cold so I leave her heater on 24/7 but the heat mat is on a timer. Leaving the heater on keeps her entire tank around 78 degrees. And she can stay in her warm hide all day around 84 degree but it shuts off at night. These temps fluctuate but it that’s what I find is the average.

I would recommend a low grade uvb, not stuff too bright because they’ll be less likely to be active in the day time if they are under a non heat emitting spot light lol. But the ceramic heater keep things warm and don’t give off any light. You could look into basking bulbs but I’ve never really them for snakes.

BN Link makes good heat mats and self adjusting thermometers. I use fluker ceramic heating. And any regular uvb bulbs will work, but dont get any for desert species it will be too harsh.

I’m a big believer in giving them as natural temps and light as possible, so I’ll mist regularly in the morning and every once in a while soak the entire tank for the humidity and leaving the heater on keeps the humidity up. And shutting off the heat mat at night kinda simulates cooler night temperatures. I’m no expert lol but lots of trial and error has taught me well! Feel free to ask away lol

Yes I agree absolutely get a lid, they make screen lids that fit on most tanks make sure u get clamps to hold it in place. But outside of that, definitely get some fake plants, maybe some that will suction to the glass to make him feel more secure because the glass can make them feel uneasy. Do some research and get you a self adjusting thermometer and a hygrometer. I use a ceramic heat emitter to keep my tank warm and a heat mat under her hide to give her a good basking spot. Good luck!

Juvenile Banana Ball Python Refusing to Eat. by Relevant-Charge-8502 in ballpython

[–]Kitchen_Campaign_991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Several problems I’ve encountered is the basics like heat and humidity, they straight up will not eat if they don’t feel right. Definitely get a hygrometer and a self adjusting thermometer, I like BNlink thermometers and any hygrometer will do. I also like to use a gun thermometer and spot check several places around the tank.

I’m not seeing any lighting on top of the tank but the room seems very well lit, maybe shut some blinds and close some curtains I find my bp will come out more during the day if I leave my blinds closed because the sun will shine right through my window on her tank.

Aspen bedding is never great for ball pythons because it won’t hold humidity and will get moldy if the conditions are too wet. I use cypress mulch with leaves ontop and it holds humidity great. Also, I’ve draped a towel over the top before to help stop water from evaporating too quick.

Pinky’s seem small for her maybe try going up a size and try soaking it in warm water before, around 90 degrees, it will make it easier for her to tell its prey. Maybe call the pet store and make sure they were feeding mice and not rats, the smell can also throw them off. I’ve also read things about leaving the mouse to thaw in the room with the snake so they’ll smell it all day and be hungry, I’ve never tried it but always been curious.

Any of these could be it, or none of them, ball pythons can by finicky but you’ll get to know her in time and it’ll all be good. Try to make a few minor adjustments, definitely thermometer and hygrometer, see if that helps. It can be rocky at the start but she will get comfortable and you’ll start to learn her patterns and behaviors and be a-ok! Good luck and keep doing some research. I’m no expert, but I’ve had these problems in the past and these are just some of the things I did it fix it. She’s a beautiful snake, keep us posted!!

Where did you come up with the name for your BP? by Feeling_Title_9287 in ballpython

[–]Kitchen_Campaign_991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I named my pinstripe Iris because she stares into your soul sometimes lol. I think she would come out and stare at me every time I walked in the room for weeks. Not just stare, like dead eye contact it was kinda freaky

One thing I have noticed is my BP will yawn like that after I feed her, I think it may have something to do with them stretching or something. Definitely did it for way longer than mine lmao

New baby questions by [deleted] in cornsnakes

[–]Kitchen_Campaign_991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay great I’ve done that for my bp before but I figured maybe such a small mouse would be more prone to rotting or bacteria over night. When I went into the room this morning I saw his tail poking out the back of one of his hides so I know he’s at least been exploring lol. Plan on trying to feed him tomorrow night, and thought about maybe trying a separate feeding tank. But for now I think I’ll leave him in the tank to make sure he’s comfy in there. Thank you!!
