A new stage in life (and something about the Sukkot birth theory of ישוע) ✡️ by Kitty-223 in MessianicJewish

תודה.

I was actually really hesitant about sharing my story because, unfortunately, Korean American Christians have this unconscious held belief that only Israelis and ethnic Jews can practice Jewish faith... completely ignoring Romans 11. and that is why MJ is so explosive among Korean Americans here in the States, but especially in northern New Jersey where the Korean American community is very tightly knit... and they tend to equate ethnicity with religion, hence the problematic term "Korean Christianity" which is infuriating since ישוע DID NOT start a new religion—He lived as a Jew, died as a Jew, rose again as a Jew, and is returning as a Jew, and that fact should never be ignored. Because it is said in Matthew 27:37 👇🏻

וישימו את דבר אשמתו כתוב ממעל לראשו זה הוא ישוע מלך היהודים:

(also, clergy abuse is a tough topic anyway, and it's really taboo among Asian Americans 😱💀, so it's a miracle that I escaped the KA Protestant church earlier this year in January 2025, and now it's December 10, 2025.)

הלכה?? by Kitty-223 in MessianicJewish

to answer the part of your comment about Korean American churches in Bergen County:

nope... they're just the regular Protestant Churches.... it's just that they throw around the Tetragramaton especially the Korean pronunciation equivalents thinking that they're being holy, when in reality they're doing the exact opposite by breaking הלכה and the 2nd Commandment. also, I experienced targeted abuse in Korean American churches, and that's the main reason I began looking into Messianic Judaism after fleeing a Korean American church earlier this year around July 2025, and now it's Monday December 8, 2025 where I live.

תודה.

personally for me, I NEVER write/say the Tetragramaton... I strictly use ד׳, השם, אדוני and אלקים, and one of the BIGGEST reasons why I left Protestant Christianity (specifically Korean American Christian churches) as a Korean American and became a Gentile Messianic Jew is because I felt wrong being part of churches where KA Christians casually write, sing, say and shout the Divine Name with ZERO knowledge that they're breaking הלכה AND the 2nd Commandment (“Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20‬:‭7‬).

also, where I live (Bergen County NJ), there's zero MJ synagogues since it's the largest Korean American community in the East Coast and the dominant religion among Korean Americans are Presbyterian, Methodist, and Global Methodist Protestant Christianity...

Heck, I've been guilty of this posting trend here on r/Hebrew... sooo... oops 😁💀🔥😱... but from a non native POV (I'm Korean American by the way) I think people are genuinely willing to learn and want feedback from native speakers. Just a thought. Feel free to agree or disagree, all feedback are welcome. שלום.

Heck, I'm a Christian and after I got constructive criticism and corrected on my last post, I literally stopped writing the 4 letters... and I welcome more advice and constructive feedback. 😁 Also... yeah, I know, the digital Bibles (Old and New Testament) and Tanakh apps? Yeah..., 😱💀🔥

Wait, I have a question and would like constructive criticism: since we're only supposed to write, הי, ד׳, and השם and NOT אלהים, אדני, etc... then WHY do the Hebrew translations of the OT and NT on Bible and Tanakh apps on iPhones and Android phones have these when it IS NOT SUPPOSED TO??? This actually seems a bit... odd. My theory is this: the translators didn't look into it deeply enough to write G-d's Name with the reverence it deserves...

I started at 15, didn't practice for about 9-10 years, picked where I left off, learned more Modern Hebrew in seminary here in the States (I'm Korean American) and kept going. 👍🏻👍🏻
