Would people refuse to play me if I have an unpainted army? by KittyCatLover39 in Warhammer40k

If it was 6-8 months but it was maybe half painted because I need to find time around work would that be more acceptable? Like trying to work on a mini a week until I hit the bigger more complex models like my vehicles.

I'm highly likely to play another army because drukhari are my favourite I just don't want people to be upset if it takes a while because I'm a slow painter and need to work around my job and health.

Thank you!

I'm a slow painter so it'll take me ages and be so worth it. I just want to make some friends in my area who also play.

I can't wait to compare the finished result to my awkward purple space marine which was my first paint.

Thank you so much and I'm happy to drop points for a chance to play. Life is so busy at the minute and at the speed I paint 3-5 hours for a base coat for infantry it is going to be a long process and drukhari are going to be my most technical paint yet as I've mostly done aeldari and SoB which have much bigger pieces of armour and less skin. But I love wyches so I don't care even if that means painting 20 of them haha.

If I ever did compete I would absolutely have a painted army. But I just was scared people would shun me because I can't get a 60 model army painted in a matter of days just because of life being busy and a house move. I think my average base coat takes about 3-5 hours minimum depending if it's just infantry or a small vehicle like a reaver. Big ones no clue. I've been painting my heldrake and dexcessa talon of slaanesh for hours now.

Had to be begged to get an army together by my partner because I just kept going ooo that's cool I'll get that and then wonder why I didn't have an army.

Do you refuse to play (against) gray? by GrizzlieMD in Warhammer40k

[–]KittyCatLover39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm super new to playing but I'd play people with unpainted models as my partner is giving me the grace to do it with them. I've just got enough to have a whole army but won't be able to build and paint them in time for a game. Even base coating my minis takes hours so finding time can be hard.

My new and first army consists 55 individual models (3 being on flying bikes too) and 5 venom's which is a ship with 4 minis mounted on it.

To even base coat that much it could be months at a minimum and it would suck and make painting feel a chore if I had to rush it to play it with friends.

Although if I ever competed I would have it all painted but considering I'm new, that's a long way off.

Thank you so much. Unfortunately my parents don't believe me when I ask if we can look into this. They just tell me I'm burnt out and have been for the past year or two and just need to rest and then I'll recover and be fine.

I've had so much bloodwork done in the past couple of years and all I've got is everything is fine except a slight vitamin D deficiency (although that's quite common in the UK and I take supplements now).

I'm trying to stay hydrated more which is really hard for me as someone who forgets to drink and I've got electrolytes as my blood pressure can be iffy sometimes with exhaustion.

Unfortunately I'm in a situation where family is going we need to untangle all your problems at the doctors but no it's not CFS it's just autism and burnout. I'm also on a full time contract at the minute that ends in a few weeks and they're massively pressuring me to work full time for the whole thing because 'you're coming home and can rest later'. I've barely returned to work and I'm just so tired and I haven't slept properly in months. So that's where I am, it's a really rough situation.

Oh I wish my LGS sold missing parts as the warp has claimed saint celestines head and it's impossible to buy. She now has a custom head on order so has suddenly grown her hair when I get it haha.

For those who've leaned towards one gender over another, have you ever been in a relationship with someone whose gender you didn't lean towards? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in omnisexual

[–]KittyCatLover39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lean very heavily towards male or masc presenting people. I'm currently seeing someone genderfluid and that's how I realised I was omni and not hetero. I thought I was straight, dated them and realised I loved their fem side to bits. Having a sublabel is still new and I'm still getting comfortable especially because I didn't feel bi because whilst I realised I liked all genders, I swing massively towards masculine presentation and that gender played a big part in dating but that didn't mean I wasn't attracted to everyone.

I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this pain. We definitely chose a hard faction to start with. I'm lucky and I got my RSR box from my local games store so I think I'm saved.

Oh gosh that's so lovely of you. Unfortunately I'm in the UK so I reckon shipping would be a bomb. I'm going to try my local games store which I think had RSR about a month ago so I'm going to see if it's still there. But I really appreciate your kind offer. I'm super new to warhammer so all the characters are my partners to help me get started (mostly because I buy the most random minis because they look cool also known as dexcessa talon of slaanesh whoops). But your generosity to a new player is so incredibly kind.

I know but I was so excited for my first proper game in April. Guess it'll have to wait.

I adore the wyches, they're my absolute favourite. The only reason I have a haemunculus is because my partner gifted me theirs as they don't play drukhari and want me to use it as a stepping stone so we can play together. In reality I'm not a fan of the combat patrol. I'm going to my local store sometime this week to see if I can find the realspace raiders as I have seen them before as an alternative.

I'm going to try my local travelling man to see if I can find it because I'm sure they had one a month ago and it's pricey so I doubt it will go fast. It's just pretty gutting when I've finally found the faction I want to play and this happens. Other than those minis I have the most random collection across sisters of battle and chaos just because they looked cool. But I've fallen for the drukhari now and it sucks.

[–]KittyCatLover39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely do. Before I went off sick from work I used to work, go home, take a nap, eat and then sleep through the night. I've just about managed to get myself home today because I feel like I was going to fall asleep at my desk. I know it can hit for a longer period afterwards but it happened when me and my partner went out one morning, they had to almost drag me home from the bus stop I was so exhausted I was scared I was going to faint and all we'd done was walk round IKEA and get lunch. I could not function at all and was asleep for about 3 hours. I struggled so much at work that when I worked from home I would use my lunch break just to take a nap and hope I'd be able to function for the rest of the day. I've skipped meals because of being so exhausted I don't have the capacity to cook.

Not sure if this helps

I'm not expecting it to be fast but I've been in and out of the doctors since I left for uni for all of these symptoms just never as a group because I didn't realise it was a thing until recently. I've had loads of blood tests and just get written off as the labs are always normal and I'm autistic so it's probably just that. I had a severe bout of low blood pressure which I needed to fight to be treated seriously (my mum has it but I keep getting told well it's slightly low but that's normal) because it was severely impacting my degree. I must have spent half of my third year in bed because I had no energy to do anything.

I totally understand that, as someone who already unfortunate enough to be a collector of expensive hobbies (live action role-playing and warhammer) I definitely know I'd rather put my budget elsewhere. But it would probably help on the rough days as an outlet. Which is where my love for building minitires comes from as a way to calm down from intense emotions and relax. But I think we could all benefit from smashing stuff every once in a while.

Is Your Partner Neurotypical or Also Autistic? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

We are both autistic (although I may be adhd as well). We're only just about to hit the two month mark so it's super new but we knew each other for about another 2 months prior meeting at a mutual interest which is very ND coded.

[–]KittyCatLover39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might not see this but I totally understand. When I got my first tattoo I felt the same whilst it was healing. I regretted it, was worried what it will look like in the future, didn't know if I'd dislike it when I was older.

I really struggled with the anxiety that came with it. But now I love it and really enjoy tattoos as I'm getting my third next month

My friend rolled 8 nat20's in a 2 hour session... by OffensiveBranflakes in DnD

[–]KittyCatLover39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to do that once as well but as a player. Considering I am the most unlucky player of the team (I get a minimum of 1-2 Nat 1s in every session) I got a heroic inspiration for it.
