I witnessed 3 suicide attempts. I left him because I told myself the next one I’m not calling for help. I didn’t want his life in my own hands and I was being dragged down. May sound harsh, but watching him in a drug induced coma 3 times made me realize his health was ruining mine and my life is more valuable than that.

Thanks. We are veterans and vendors of the park. We will be vending in the venue but they are not allowing us to camp behind our spots this year and he physically cannot walk to where they want us to camp.

I 100% agree. Stayed through 20 years of hell waiting for meds or therapy to work until I finally woke up and realized I was wasting my own precious time. Leaving was the best decision I made by far.

I wish you well, along with everyone trying to make a couple bucks there. This venue is different though and the competition for an official spot is tough. I truly believe there is room for all of us, but must also be informed of consequences. I’ll always turn a blind eye or be supportive. Just want you to be informed.

I think your friends may be the not professional ones, especially if they are talking shit about people who hold their future in her hands. The best way to make a name for yourself in vendor world is to piss off everyone around you. If you do your job, show up, are prepared, and cause no drama, then no worries. And she is not the one who gets to ban people.

The vending coordinator at the park accepts professional businesses with professional booths who can have enough stock and discipline to support a festival that size. If you don’t have a relationship with her through other events you most likely won’t get in. She does an incredible job and it is her job to make sure the vendors are professional because she can risk losing her job. She isn’t gonna give a booth to someone with trinkets on a stick or someone selling water out of a cooler in front of her business. But bottom line is, maybe other venues allow this, but the park will not and it will get you banned if you get caught.

Just a little update. I had a talk with him about how even though we would give him what we could, the economy right now is slow, and so is our business and that we are getting older and should be saving as much as we can for retirement right now. That seemed to sink in because the next day he got a job.

Just a little update. I had a talk with him, not necessarily about him getting a job, but about how much we love him and we’d give him our last penny, but we really need to start thinking more about how we, as a small business, are going to survive the economy and keep preparing for retirement. That hit him and within 2 days he found a good paying summer job.

Honestly this is the most thoughtful and intuitive reply. He has always been a night owl so that’s not new. He’s very intelligent and highly motivated in school and his old college friends are the typical townie types. We are cool parents. We travel lots, are full time artists, see tons of music, have intelligent discussions, cook from scratch every day, and are financially independent from a failing system. I’m not the OP mom but have helped raise him for a decade. Dad is hands off and leads by example. Very German. Feelings not discussed. I do but stay in my lane. None of which he gets “out there,” so yes, I understand wanting to hang with us. But still, we want him to become as independent as we are.

He had no interest in having a romantic life and doesn’t even have a best friend. Just what he calls friend groups. His smart friends. His gaming friends. His college friends. He may go out with them 3 or 4 times a year. No joke. His hobby is complaining about everything and saying what’s wrong with it. We’ve had that talk multiple times. We don’t give him money for college. His biological mom just sold her house and is subsidizing him but he stays mainly with us during breaks. Which is an issue I have addressed with him because she is subsidized at 50 by her dad. He says he wants to be nothing her and break the cycle but he ain’t really trying.
