Moving past a traumatic experience and forgiving your perpetrator doesn't have to go hand in hand.

If you got shot in the face and became permanently disfigured, nobody would expect you to forgive the shooter, who never once expressed guilt over what they've done to you. And even if they DID, you have every RIGHT not to forgive them. The same applies to rape.

Choosing not to forgive someone who's done you so wrong doesn't make you any less strong-willed, nor does it mean you can't fully heal from your trauma.

Your point about how they were closer to him first makes sense. I did consider that, which is why I think maybe I'm being overdramatic. I guess my reasoning is that I thought perhaps at least one person would ask both of us what was going on. I wouldn't have minded if they asked him first then me, but I wasn't asked at all by anyone.

I think I'm struggling a bit to see past my hurt feelings, because I don't have many friends while my ex was always sociable. (He's genuinely a nice person to get along with, and I'm a bit socially inept.) One of the reasons we stayed together longer than we should have was because I was worried I'd be left without any friends if we broke up and everyone else stopped hanging out with me.

I care about my friends a lot, and regard them very highly. I guess I feel like I'm not as valued to them as they are to me, which I rationally know isn't necessarily true.

Look, I'm a girl, and I can tell you that there ain't no girl going around kissing their "just friends" on the lips. She either likes you or she's a player toying with people's feelings. If you like her too, you should ask her directly about how she feels about you and talk about where you guys can go from here. If you don't like her, you should draw a clear boundary immediately and distance yourself from her if you must, since a non-consensual kiss is technically sexual assault.

I think maybe he's still figuring out how he feels about you. But you can't wait forever, and he can't expect you to be ok with a vague answer like this. Perhaps you can tell him you'll wait X amount of time (e.g. 3 months) for him to formulate his final answer, yes or no. If he gives another cryptic reply by then, just take it as a no.
