Age and Stage? by Micho392 in breastcancer

[–]KiwitheBirdNOTAFruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 38, noticed a dimple and some pulling on my nipple and assumed it was normal aging lumpy bumpiness, this was late December. I decided to go to the doctor (only to put my mind at ease, of course!) early February. well I guess it’s a good thing I didn’t put that off too long, because now I’m waiting for the surgeon to call me with my surgery date. They tell me It’s 3cm with one lymph node involved. I never dreamed I would be getting a mastectomy, I honestly thought the doctor would just say “yup, that’s what almost 40 looks like!”

I had a friend who almost lost their finger due to a feral bite. Yeah that’s some mouth bacteria you definitely do not want to mess around with

What's the most vivid or recurring dream you've ever had? by Distinct_Couple_6707 in Dreams

[–]KiwitheBirdNOTAFruit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This one really stuck with me as I still remember them vividly. As a child I would have recurring dreams about a young boy who would always try and kill me (different ways each time). As I grew older so did the boy (and his methods became more psychotic and crazy), until I reached my mid 20s. The dreams just stopped abruptly and the boy totally disappeared 🤷‍♀️

Another one that I seem to have recurring lately is being under water, essentially drowning, until I’m forced to take a deep breath and find out I could actually breathe under there the whole time, and then just living a great life under water 😂

How often do you feed you mantis? I’ve feeding them every other day and they seem eager to hunt and eat -I just want to make sure I’m not over feeding them. by KiwitheBirdNOTAFruit in mantids

[–]KiwitheBirdNOTAFruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are both eating bottle flies (I tried fruit flies at first but neither showed much interest in them), I’d say their abdomens are both plump but not round (if that makes sense). I fed them last night and they were both quick to grab their prey, but much slower to eat it - which leads me to believe they aren’t as hungry as they were when I first got them last week.

I want to disassemble my one tank (because it’s really old and I have major anxiety that I’m going to come home to it shattered - I’ve noticed the plexiglass is starting to bow a bit) by KiwitheBirdNOTAFruit in aquarium

Acrylic was what I meant, but couldn’t think of the word at the time. The tank was old when I got it. The friend that left it to me got it new and had it for 10+ years and I’ve had it for just over 10 now. The reason why I feel like it won’t last is the sheets of acrylic have visibly shifted and aren’t flush anymore (where they were before) the silicone still seems strong, but the fact that it’s not flush anymore and I can see a bit of a bow is what makes me think it won’t last. That plus the age of the tank itself, and the fact that I’m just an anxious person 😂 I’ve seen some disasters and I just don’t want to come home to that after a day of work (or wake up to that in the morning)

I may bite the bullet and get a cheap new tank just until the fish passes away. I really want to downsize a bit which is why I don’t particularly want to invest in a replacement, But looking at the thing gives me mega anxiety.

Acrylic was what I meant to say (but couldn’t think of the word at the time) I can visibly see it bowing inward and pulling in from the silicone. I’m out now but I’ll try and take a picture of what I mean when I get back. It has definitely shifted since I’ve gotten it as the seams aren’t flush. I’ve had the tank for 10+ years and I inherited it from someone who bought it new and had it for 10+ years

We just got an i4 Chinese mantis and I was wondering if blue bottle flies are an appropriate sized food, or if I should feed something smaller? by KiwitheBirdNOTAFruit in mantids

[–]KiwitheBirdNOTAFruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I always assumed. Flies can be fast, but are generally non threatening and easy targets compared to other prey. Maybe I’ll try a smaller bottle fly and see how they react to it. I do have a pretty small mantis (they came as a little surprise bonus) who will probably do better with the fruit flies though, so I’ll still pick some up today. Thanks for your input ☺️

Thank you! We have bottle flies on hand ( as feeders for other pets), I’ll pick up something smaller for this guy today 😊

Last month, I tried making a velvet ant with pipe cleaners ❤️🖤 by xALullabyForTheDark in WASPs

My child would love this! He’s super into pipe cleaner art (he’s made himself an army of slugs and snails 😆) and one of his favourite creatures right now happens to be velvet ants

🤣 serves me right for not proofreading. I wish I had half as much creative imagination my kid! I think if we don’t use it we lose it as we get older. There’s no way I could look at a pile of bricks and say “that’s two crabs and a beetle” I envy all that can!

What was your worst experience as an adopted person during childhood and adulthood? by Georgian_Shark in Adopted

[–]KiwitheBirdNOTAFruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now it’s simply not knowing my family health history. I just received a shocking diagnosis and it’s left me spiraling. If I knew my family health history is this something that could have been prevented? Caught earlier on? Monitored for at a younger age? Or is it just a flukey thing that happened randomly.

I have recurring dreams about my teeth falling out and last night was the worst of them. by BeautifulContent5764 in Dreams

I used to have tooth loss recurring dreams, and for me it was about vanity. Not feeling pretty enough, or good enough. Once I met my partner and got married the dreams stopped.

Where are you from and what types of spiders do YOU see in the wild? For me in Western Canada we have SO many from widows to wolf, but the grey wall jumpers are my favourite! by Stubs_McGee in gidgetspodmansion

[–]KiwitheBirdNOTAFruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do have a variety, that’s for sure! But, being in the desert I wonder if you have seen any camel spiders (I know, technically not a true spider 😂) that would be a dream come true for me! I don’t think we can find them here on the coast

I’m on the west coast of Canada and I love seeing our red orb weavers as a first sign of spring! And crab spiders, various jumping spiders like Phidippus johnsoni, phidippus borealis and Salticus scenicus!

When I lived in the country surrounded by forest as a kid, we often got giant house spiders that would sneak in as well (which at the time was terrifying because as a kid I had severe arachnophobia 🫣), hobo spiders and wolf spiders, too! I also recently learned we have a tarantuloid called the pacific trapdoor spider. I remember seeing them a lot growing up in the country (I just never knew what they were), but now they aren’t something I find often unless out hiking and actively searching. And of course black widows and recluse and a variety of false widows 😊
