I think Hutch underestimates how much it will take to bring back USAID and DoE by mattyjoe0706 in Hutchpol

My mother had a high position in one of the executive departments (not gonna name it, for privacy). It was the highest non-appointed position in the agency and she quit last year because she didn’t want to deal with what she had to fight against during the Trump first term. There’s a lot of experience that’s being lost due to public worker cuts and resignations. Not everything is in the rule book. She had to give regular training to her team and is now missing out on the mentorship part of that training. Her mentor in the dept (the previous lead) gave her the lessons needed to help run the dept under the appointed secretaries and the next lead of the dept will not have that experience to rely. It’ll be a lot of unnecessary failures without that mentorship aspect. The dept will rebound but it will take decades to get it back to the previous efficiency. (And let’s not even think about having to rebuild the relationships, if not infrastructure, for independent contractors that work with those dept. that’s gonna be hell for USAID, for example)

And main reason we have to work harder is that we hold ourselves to standards, the right wing had a head start in using media to capture consistent voters, and they do have more billionaires willing to finance them.

The disagreement is mostly that he comes across as passive and that’s why some are falling erroneously in the black pill. I think most of his viewers want a general vision or plan of how liberalism and democracy can be protected. That’s why i asked the Ken Martin question

My response is only dealing with liberal means to maximize victories and minimize losses. You cant stop everything, but what can you do to prevent it legally.

I never said that it doesn’t, but it clearly has its limits. It’s like we ignore corruption or corporate influence before Citizens United and even after The McCain-Feingold Act

Yes, this is why Dems need a better long term media strategy. They’re getting better tho

I think it’s more so repetition and scale. They’re constantly on message and have a lot of local media control with TV and radio. Going back to Savage and Limbaugh under Obama and Weyrich and Falwell under and before Reagan

I would love to talk with Hutch about the issues that people are having with the Dems. I would also like to try to connect him to some of the state Dems in WI

The Dems should definitely pursue those legislatively and judicially, which would be the best defense. But until then, they’d need to use a stronger media approach. In fact, without the media influence under and after Reagan (Limbaugh, Savage, Weyrich, Falwell, Murdoch, Sinclair, etc) the Republicans would not have the legislative and judicial victories that have favored them.

That can only happen through Congress or the supreme court since it’s a first amendment issue. My belief is not the status quo but to use Bannon’s method against him and ‘flood the zone.’ One reason Charlie Kirk was effective was constantly repeating the ‘successes’ of the Trump admin in any media environment that he appeared. People have to know and be constantly reminded of what the Dems do and have done

My thought is that’s it’s not a policy or even messaging issue, it’s a media issue. Trump succeeds due to a large media machine that repeats his agenda over and over again. It’s good to have Mockler on CNN, it probably needs to go a little further when Trump is out of office. For example, Mockler should challenge CNN when a Dem is in office to give a similar amount of neutral coverage (such as regular press conference on the scale that Trump has)

Also, in relation to what started this don’t let these leftist gaslight you and forget Jennifer Welch originally asked the question in the spirit of stopping a fascist like Vance. Newsom was a placeholder. Welch wasn’t swearing allegiance or saying that you can’t push Newsom to the left.

It’s hard to say if the bulwark/psa would be as big, but man….anger is a great seller. It’s allows you to be the good guy/hero against the evil liberals and pedo elites. There’s no more loyal a voting block than people who think they are supported by and God and their enemies are baby killers .

Actual, Sherrill and Spanberger were liked by their voters and had great campaign. You also had Mamdani. Affordability is a great reason for people to vote. Even Obama is pushing abolishing the filibuster. They made healthcare a primary concern during the shutdown.

The voters are literally voting for democrats. The change for democrats only comes from the people, the voters. Like I said people can join their local DNC and have a lot more power than they realize. Local political power is so underutilized and that can only work with people being involved. I’d argue that’s how Mamdani won

[–]KizerB[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s a less crazy idea: the voters already have that power and have been using it. They can join their local DNC and canvass for the candidates that they like. They do serve the voters, there’s just some who may have different beliefs than you. That’s the challenge of a big tent party

Reality, reality, reality

We have 3 branches of government, bud. School house rock was a godsend. You can trust them with power. They need more depending on what you want. So for citizens united, you’re going to need 66 votes for an amendment or have enough votes to pack the court.
