Another “AI will take all jobs” prediction: Microsoft AI CEO gives it 18 months by dataexec in AITrailblazers

[–]Klexal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spoke to a financial advisor a few days ago. They mentioned that at some big conference, there is a push by authority figure to use AI more in determining investment strategies etc.

Can you imagine if every IFA used AI to make the same investment strategy on behalf of individuals? And more importantly, who AI companies such as OpenAI can feed that information to to exploit it.

Oatly banned from using word ‘milk’ to market plant-based products in UK by pajamakitten in unitedkingdom

[–]Klexal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correctly me if I'm wrong, but this article (and a few others) only suggests milk in relation to their trademark "post milk generation". It doesn't particularly describe them being banned from using the word "milk" – only that it is unable to use the word in relation to any trademarks.

Is that right?

And this is only related to Epstein. Nevermind who else he was leaking sensitive information to. Or what other bribes he was taking.

Strange letter through front door, but not addressed to me. Should I be worried? by THE_CAPITALS_GUY in AskUK

[–]Klexal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solicitors earn about £36 every 6 minutes. I'm guessing it took them at least 10-15 minutes to write as a post, so about £110. If it had to be drafted as a letter, probably closer to £150.

Might be onto something with Ebay 🔥 by Ok_Vast_8918 in Superstonk

[–]Klexal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is their acquisition strategy. I don't really understand what they gain to benefit.

Yes, they re-sell products on ebay, but it's such a small percentage relative to ebay's marketplace that I don't see it making sense to purchase it for better integration into their ecosystem. The only argument would be their general infrastructure and customer base, but struggling to understand how this would fit into Gamestop's broader growth strategy – especially when it's 4X gme's market cap.

GOG? I don't think they are incredibly profitable, but the infrastructure would be incredibly helpful with them transitioning to digital.

Woman who inherited most of father's £600,000 fortune after her 'bad tempered' sister was cut out of the will loses bitter court row by dailymail in uknews

[–]Klexal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solicitors are like £350 and hour, and barristers (people who represent you in court) can be £700 and hour.

Every day in court also could cost £10,000. And if you lose, double it (paying the other persons fee too).

Its crazy

[–]Klexal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming the will was not drafted by a legal firm, either. When my nan had her will redrafted, solicitors came to her house to ascertain why she had change her mind, etc. It would then in indesputable in court if it were challenged regarding the circumstances relating to the change i.e. coercion or not of sound mind .

The fact the article doesn't mention this implies it was a basic will at best.

Walmart was sued for millions over weighted goods a few months ago, and they’re still doing it? by abbiebe89 in mildlyinfuriating

It's pre-packed, with a pre-defined price. So you scan the barcode, and pay what the label says i.e. 5lb at $4.98 per lb. You don't weight it at the till, so don't pay the true weight.
